Can't run to the extra cost of the R but I'm sure it will be an amazing bike. Demo ride should reveal a lot about the basic platform though and SS tell me they should have a V4 in mid Jan.
So, finally got through it (fucking work gets in the way of all the entertaining stuff doesnt it) The only noteworthy stuff was the v4 (especially the blinged up version) and the pikes peak....that looked quite nice. But in reality for me so far out of my price range its untrue...
Yep, right there!! That's what the forum needs, more internet gobby warriors like you, well done, you're a big man at a keyboard..... Zzzzzz
Can everyone calm down otherwise we'll have to call the PO PO Seriously though......calm the PO PO down
If I live stream me telling you in an Italian accent to go and have a lay down, could we move on, please?
View of Akra LH silencer. Definitely asymetric system. This one is angled a lot lower than the right hand silencer. Could look odd but we are only really shown it from the one side thus far.
So, lets get this straight....theyve produced and 1100 racing bike....so that cant be "raced" as such cos its an 1100? and when i say raced i mean by your average club racer.... Also.... "2xx bhp" cos.....its an 1100..... Theres also a litre version coming out i gather....they should have just stuck with that...
The 1000cc limitation only applies to WSBK and certain other race series, hence why for homologation purposes the forthcoming V4R will be capped at that capacity. No reason why you cant race a Base, S or Speciale at the current capacity though.
Kind of by default. It's the same geometry as the GP bike including piston diameter. They increased the stroke to lower the revs/de-tune the engine for reliability reasons, hence the extra 100cc in displacement. But yes, the R will be back to 1000cc for WSBK homologation rules
Also does that mean the R will have fewer bhp than the speciale/tricolore? Surely they will tune the dick off it and claim it has the exact same bhp incidentally?
Entirely possible, Ducati are good at fudging numbers to make them 'fit'. In comparison of the 1299 and the R it was the delivery of those horses. It will be the changing factor here too I think. Even so, im hoping the R will be lighter, allegedly a twin spar swing arm, and dripping with carbon. Am I right in saying the R will also have a price cap for WSKB rules?
I doubt it will have less ponies TBH, if anything I'd expect it to be at least equal than the 1100. Will have shorter service intervals and rev higher though I'd imagine.
Sorry - i cant see the point in producing an 1100.....the 1100 is going to be the "Shop bought item" so wannabe Johnny Dovi can only buy an 1100 which will exceed the engine size for normal club racing....
I totally agree AD, but these bikes are gonna be so close round a track, even the best of riders won't separate them by more than 1/10ths here and there, which kind of makes the RR a bargain compared to the V4 ??
It feels like they didn’t think they could get enough bhp/torque out of a 1000 V4 to beat the opposition?
Maybe, or maybe they needed an 1100 to get the torque and power curves they were after combined with the needs to comply to Euro 4 and be ready for Euro 5. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we see a 1200 V4 by 2020 too, that should be pretty mighty in terms of torque output. FWIW I'm not at all against the BMW-RR, GSX-RR, R1M, etc, etc - I was astonished at how bloody fast a new 2017 BMW-RR came past me on the Hangar Straight a few weeks ago... Was on the International layout too (so no chance to get high speed before entering the straight). Was on full gas and that thing pissed past like it had an extra 1000cc... truly impressive the power and acceleration it could deliver.
