Ducati World Première 2018 - Chat Thread

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Rob, Nov 5, 2017.

  1. I think he's more concerned by the direction motorcycling riding fashion is heading judging by the fella wearing the white 'thing'

    Not sure that'll catch on

  2. The emissions regs would still be the same if they add 100 or 200cc. They are not getting round the regs, just adding cc to get back to where they were in terms of performance.

  3. Well...yeah - moving the goalposts....more cc's is still going to produce more exhuast gases....there is no "middleweight class" anymore, hell, there is no class of motorbike anymore - you just decide what you want to buy and it comes with whatever said displacement they happen to go with that year....

  4. An 800cc 170bhp V4 “middleweight” would be tasty, with and without fairing.

  5. Y'see - ive always classed "600" as "the middleweight...."

  6. Early press release on v4 said 1100 was to make motor more torquey and road friendly.

  7. Historically, yes, but we’ve all become greedy. With 1299, 1100, 1302cc all being the norm across a number of manufactures, 800cc is the logical middle ground to me. It harks back to the GSXR 750 being the perfect blend of power/weight/performance.

  8. And allows them to have relatively decent length service intervals.

  9. Sounds like theyve failed then....Aprilia never needed to do that...(my rsv4 is easy to ride, even with a modded ecu and a full system...)

  10. Hmmm....some sort of "streetfighter" you might be onto something there :)

  11. But Aprilia do say that with those mods you should be checking the clearances every 6,000 miles.

  12. Yes - very true - ill give you that but, why would there be a difference in service intervals in relation to bore size though...?

  13. TBH I’m mechanically inept so it was more of an assumption that bigger bore size means less highly strung, and less pressure on components.

  14. Since many have mentioned that the frame is too prominent and since I am not averse to tearing down a brand new bike to change the frame/swingarm colour (as on my 1199 and 1299), unsure as to whether this looks an improvement when colour matched to the subframe/swingarm.

    My original V4S concept

With colour matched frame and link bracket. Suspension/ swingarm brackets would be Cerakoted black as well. Shorter number plate bracket fitted.
