Dyno Time.

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by comfysofa, Mar 7, 2014.

  1. Yeah - but the condition it was in when I got it was nothing short of showroom. I wasn't really going to argue with him as id never had one before and was happy to follow the advice he gave me. Plus it seemed like sense to me as its essentially an open air filter...

Dyno time tomorrow morning...! I have on me a fat pile of cash, packet of biscuits and jar of coffee....

  2. Do you get discount for coffee and biscuits? If so I'll bake a cake

  3. You could try it...! I did ask if a couple of mates could tag along as they were interested but that's not allowed....ill shoot some video with the phone while im there...

  4. Well, this is just a morning to get a mapping on there. Plan is later in the year to go back when its got a couple of k & n's on there.

  5. Is it done yet??

  6. Its on baby!

First and foremost - why didn't I get this done sooner....as you can see from the output file theres some pretty big gains mostly at the bottom end (the net result is the ability to lift the front with ease now). No more chattering down the bottom end when filing through traffic. Feels like a new bike to drive. Laughing all the way from from Louigi Motos.

Theres some information that Chris has access to that gives him a significant advantage over from what I can see any other Dyno tuner that tackles a Ducati (Also being based at Lougi is an advantage also). Essentially he's got a way of decoding whats actually inside the original dump from the ECu.

Definitely not what I thought when it comes to dyno work...he's worth his money, when I was actually watching what he was doing and how he was doing it. programming a power commander is one thing but remapping an original ecu is another. He explained the differences between the way a power commander worked and the way the remap of an ecu works.

o2 Sensors have been disabled and the flapper valve marked offline. Ripped that out last night, its been asking for it for ages... 20140315_151401.jpg
    Yeah baby....

  9. From 50 to 65lbft in midrange. THAT will be fun to ride!

He did a great job on mine, I've sent a few people his way now, and loads of guys I know race take it there.

Thinking the gixer will be heading that way once I can afford it...

  10. Yeah - he's keen to get his hands on the RSV4 factory ive got, hes done a couple but only remotely apparently - only thing is that itll need to be with him for 2 days but I don't use it all the time, rarely in fact so as a fave he can have it as long as he needs it for.

In real world terms the sheer power increase is amazing, ive ridden it home but haven't been on it since. It really is like a drug....I need another hit asap...! looks like today is going to be a sunny one!

  11. Easy 3rd gear wheelies now then...expecting the videos to prove it ;)

  12. Its strange - its almost like I don't open the throttle as I know no more power is going to be there but there is....

  13. Well theres a waste of £400 ;p

Give it the beans...it wants it!

  14. Very impressive Comfy!

  15. Oh - itll be getting a good seeing to....what I was saying was im not used to the new power on tap....and, the way that it comes in...

Its gonna be coming apart again though....ill have the rear brake hose shortly along with the clutch master cylinder and the hose to go with it.

Also the front rocker cover is coming off along with the pressed metal guide that holds the front hoses....theyre both seriously pitted and are going off to the powder coaters....

Funny as theres a big hole where the flapper valve motor used to which had the underside mudguard tie wrapped to it. Gonna design a new rear mudguard that comes off of the same mount as the tail tidy I designed. Should do a better job of stopping the crud coming up...

Also now the o2 sensors are marked offline as well, they'll be coming out and have some blankers put in there and then take the cabling out as well.

  16. Cheers - I highly recommend it.

  17. Uploading a video now to youtube. Take a little while though...shame cos the mic cut out the low base....

  18. Yes big gains low down and for back road scratchin thats were you need the grunt , heres mine

  19. Yup. That's impressive.....who dyno'd yours?

  20. I took it to The Dynojet center up at Barnacre near Preston , Richard the operator said it was pretty good on the map and only had to change a few numbers here and there , so whoever dynoed it up before i got the bike did a good job .
I appreciated him being truthfull .......he could of bullshitted and said it needed lots of time and a full new map blah blah yadder yadder just to get more dosh out of me but didnt ....that in itself nowadays is something !! think he just charged £50 or summat for dyno time and tweeks........i was very happy to say the least

I dont really look at peak figures on any dyno stuff really .....so what if bike A had 2 more hp than bike B, on back roads its the torque that you ride on ,filling the built in economy holes and dip areas is were you feel the work from a good dyno technician
