Ebay, cant remember the seller got mine from but these are similar and you can drill a hole (thats what I did in the end) Like this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19e9909143 Think its an m18 but was a while ago...may have been smaller
I been trying to sort out options cor fuelling and looking into all types from memjet pcv generic reflash or custom tune and when on rexxer site they said that when they tune ecg it gets wiped if you take it into dealers. Is this the same with yours comfy? How much does it cost to have altered when you have a new filter put on? And on rexxer site it says insurance may be void do you need tell them? Can they check?
Oh, been thinking that this would be possibly something worth doing on my stock 848 Evo to improve the low down fuelling, I wouldn't want to remove O2 sensors etc, so I am not sure I would get good gains, maybe I should speak to him in a few months when the weather improves.
Mine'll never need to be reflashed. As long as the engine setup stays the way that it is then that's it. If I was honest I'd like a set of k&n's in the future, if That happens then it would have to go back on the dyno....but I doubt it as its running so well... I think my way/this way is the best as there's no additional boxes....if anything what I've had done reduces the clutter even more.
Not sure why you would want to keep the o2 sensors. As Chris at cjs said " they just get in the way" from a fueling point of view and aesthetically.
If you take it in for a service make sure they don't update you ecu software, i think it will change the settings
Don't think ive ever known any place that's ever just updated the ecu software without charging for it so they don't....well for me anyway... I had to pay 50 quid to get the rsv4 done. If I get a service done one the hyper then it'll go back to where the dyno work was done....
Just to add Phil, while I was there for the day kicking my heels there was a 848evo in which was getting repainted. The guy who owned it came in to survey the work and I got chatting to him. He asked why I was there to which I explained I was waiting for the dyno work to be completed - he didn't really know what the dyno was for but I said "does yours stutter at low speed while filtering through traffic/anything slow speed related" to which he replied yes, but he did think that was just how ducati's were. Chris said that he could do for the 848 what he was doing to mine - never saw him after that but Im quite sure he made a booking..
Ah, cool, the thing I dislike is the step in throttle opening, hard to explain but basically you go to balance the throttle with the clutch biting point and you seem to suddenly get a step of revs, like maybe a jump of 500rpm, so you either pull away with barely any revs or you pull away slipping the clutch like a 2 stroke, hope that makes sense. The thing is that I do at some point want some Termigs' so would rather wait until I can get them and then get the whole job done, as I imagine the Termig ECU map may make the bike even worse down low in sacrifice for mid-top end power. I can't fault the bike from 5k upwards, it's perfect, coming out of corners from a partially open throttle and it's incredible so I am not hard to please.
Yeah - apparently that juddering is where ducati programmed the ecu to starve the bike of fuel for eu regs...I know where youre coming from as that's how mine was....not sure how your airbox is set up but I drilled the top of mine as that's all the ducati performance one is but Chris did say (it was too late at the time) but if you do make sure the edges of the cut are smooth so it doesn't make the flow "rough". yeah - id get the engine set up how you want it then take it down there. Im quite confident that if he does it then itll be almost like riding a new bike...that's the way mine feels at the moment...
Yup I totally see where youre coming from as that's the way mine was. As Chris explained to me the juddering at low revs is where ducati starves it of fuel for eu regs. What he does totally smooths that out. If you look at the graph of mine bottom end torque curve is up and down where that's happening. And, ironically where the biggest gains are. Yes, get your engine setup how you want it first then get it done. Im quite confident that yours'll be the same as mine - ie itll be like riding a new bike.... Im not sure how your airbox is set up but I drilled the top of mine out to get more air in. It was too late at the time as id already done it but Chris said that if you/me/anyone drills the airbox out to smooth the edges off as this creates turbulence for the ingoing air....so if yours is the same as mine and you do drill the airbox then smooth it off - it just means he'll get better results then.
Just to add about the Termig ECu map - from seeing what Chris does I don't think a race ecu can compete with what he does as at the end of the day ducati/termi are producing and ecu that has a blanket mapping - a one for all solution which is great from a plug in and go point of view. But, mine is now set up to exactly how my cylinders on mine work. I asked if now he had done mine and got another bike with the same set up he could use that and he said no - cos no 2 bikes run the same. When he was getting to the end of the mapping and I quote so you know how he's working.... "Done the last run, I can see on the second cylinder with the throttle at 69% the fuel/air mix is slightly too high so ive patched in a couple of % at that point to bring that within tolerance" So you can see how finely he's working...
