Easter Forum Trip 19-24 Apr. Ardennes !!! ... The No Brexit Euro Easter Mini-break ;-)

Discussion in 'Touring' started by Dave, Jan 13, 2019.

  1. Going to order the T Shirts this week or early next week. If you want one, or two, and you haven't already please let me know on this thread. Price will be £13-£15 for a decent quality t-shirt, I won't know the exact final cost until I have an idea of the quantity. I'll bring these with me, you can pay me there in GBP or Euros.

  2. Already done it, no real desire to do it again TBH but still wouldn't mind tagging along if others in the group are going.

  3. The 'Ring - makes a good ride out, and if nothing else a coffee while others give it a go and the carpark is normally worth a walk around

Green card - Hastings emailed mine today

Just need to do this driving permit nonsense

I'll be heading 417/m4/m25 etc if anyone wants to meet on route

  5. Could fancy it but the GS starts to weave at 130 ish...could take the panniers off suppose. Would need to check my French insurance 1st.

  6. Unlikely you’ll hit 130 unless you know where it all goes ;)

  7. KMH?

  8. MPH :upyeah:

  9. I did the Nurburg in a car and that was enough, but love the place and area so still a great place to go :)

  10. Apparently underwriter is sending out my green card for this and the other European jollies that I'm going on so far this year. Need to get IDP from PO next week.

Would have joined you Bradders but I'm staying at a mate's place near Maidstone the night before so I can have a leisurely meander across Northern France, a nice lunch, might do a WWII site if weather is OK. Fancy a look at La Coupole, have visited Blockhaus d'Eperlecques previously which was impressive both for what it was and also what the RAF did to it to make sure it couldn't function.

My one and only stab at the Nordschleife, pretty feeble but at least I can say I've done it. I was aboard my VFR. Mate on his 996, unbeknownst to me, had been practising on his sons PlayStation for weeks and buggered off over the horizon. Not that I was going to be able to keep up anyway...

  11. I am still trying to see if the Hailwood Rep is a feasible option for this tour. Carrying out some test runs etc, and nearly there.

  12. Would be great to have such a classic in the group, prepare to be swamped by inquisitive old men at every stop.

  13. What’s the fuel range Pete?

  14. my 900ss was great on the spain trip... not quite the same but for a 20year old bike it didn't miss a beat and was a hoot

  15. I don't know. But since the (non-standard alloy) tank is huge, and bevels are quite economical, probably longer than anyone else's.

  16. Pete,
If you take the MHR I’m gonna take the sport classic and a rucksack of diclophenac :D

  17. Good point. May need to book sessions of physiotherapy in Bouillon, or perhaps a masseur.
