i need to add here, that Nigel Lacey knows these engines very well from a rebuild point of view and not merely as a spares supplier. Within the last year Nigel took the trouble to explain to me at great length the intricacies and problems associated with (generally) the singles crankshafts.
I always got the impression, with that thick seat it was soft, one of those is on my list of parts for my SS
That's what I thought too. Mine is hard , but ok for a full tank so about 120 miles. My 600ss has a slightly thinner and softer more comfy seat
Bike looks good Vader. I remember seeing it for sale a few years ago when I was looking for a SL. I remember the white squares on the lower fairing panels .
I find SL seats comfortably firm. The weight is on feet and wrists. I think yours has a later “thick” foam pad. You can get a thinner one which would have been standard issue with earlier SL if you prefer a lower seat height.
Does this appear cheap, even with nasty cast swingarm? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/25676706...WK+N8O4PMIP+HOS+2fRYn361+d|tkp:Bk9SR-LmnZuDZQ
I expect you've both read the notes, Damon purchased it around nine years ago, so a personal sale although he's a trader. I bought my second ugly multi Strada from him, somewhere around six years ago ago, and I found him fine to deal with, the motorcycle was exactly as stated, at a fair price and I rarely buy from trade but there were no catches, so proceeded.
No criticism of the listing or the vendor intended, simply, IMO, the asking price is cheap, even for the very first generation 999R Andy
yes I know Andy, sorry if mine came over as a challenging reply but really I was just trying to help a prospective buyer maybe.
Would it be sacrilege to buy it and stick a later Black Fabricated arm in it? I don't think I'd be able to help myself if I brought it, especially as I have one sat in my container.
Very nice, but as re-wilding is a thing, you could get rid of the lawnmower and then there's room for just one more.........
