  3. I had a 2000MY 748R with Showa front and rear....I had it set up by a suspension specialist for track day use and he is an ohlins dealer. He informed me that the Showa bikes were as good if not better than the ohlins bikes. The ohlins need more servicing and people like the "label". The showa units on the 748R are specially made by showa for that bike. I am not really an expert so I wouldn't really be able to tell I don't think even with a back to back test.
    on a more serious note..YELLOW... a 748R has to be yellow!

  5. Don't disagree with you and I'm sure you are right about the suspension when set up properly. My point is that seller is asking 2001MY money which the earlier MY2000 bikes aren't getting ..... yet. Andy

  6. What is the "Final spec" an R model or SPS as both hold good money in Yellow of course.

  13. Do you know, it took me a minute, but just realised, I bought his zzr14. Richard Lindoe is aka filth, really nice guy and builds some spectacular stuff. :)

  14. The last of the 748Rs in the shops second half of 2002 came with Ohlins suspension front and rear, 2 piece carbon air box, slab sided fairings and colour coded mirrors. The Ohlins steering damper was not standard UK spec although it was available to buy and some dealers fitted it as an incentive to sell the last few bikes that were hanging around. The Pankl connecting rods changed design for the 2001 MY onwards. They went from a pretty robust sharp sided H section to a slightly lighter, more rounded H section. I have been lead to believe by someone in the trade that there were no yellow slab sided fairing 748Rs made for the UK.
    The SPS stopped production in the late 90s and had steel Pankl con rods, smaller inlet and exhaust valves and didn't have the shower injectors. My memory isn't too great at this time of night but if I've missed something, I'm sure someone will chime in. Andy
