  1. They’ve honestly fucked the market for everything now. Spoke to a chap yesterday who suddenly wanted an extra TWENTY GRAND for his D16 as ‘everyone else is asking that’.

    Asking isn’t getting, right?

  2. Interesting (to me) chat on FB Track Day page the other day about used sports bike prices. Went along the lines that there are less on the market these days due to increased popularity of nakeds, retro/classic's, sports/tourers, etc. With the big bike manufacturers in an arms race of slippers/blippers/etc new prices are going up and up and up, which means that they are now maybe £2k more expensive than 2 years ago (?) so you buy a 2yr old bike for £3k less than a new one which means £1k depreciation over 2 years. Add the popularity of track days and people can break a bike for spares due to eBay and all sports bikes are getting really strong money now. Lots of people were saying they had made +£500 on there 12 yr old R6 after owning for 2 years.

  3. That’s totally true. I sold my old R1 last month after owning it for 8 years. I paid £5k for it in 2010, and it just sold for £5.5k after 8 terrific years of trouble free fun.

  5. Well, it pays to be thorough.

What do you think it should be in terms of price, RX? The prices on things just seem to be all over the place at the mo. Somethings got to give.

  6. I am no way an expert on RS bikes however, in general, the prices of rare/special Ducatis appears to be pretty crazy, driven by people/dealers advertising at inflated prices.
This then drives the private seller to think “I’ll ave some of that” and the prices spiral out of control...
If the buying public say “No!” And refuse to pay these ridiculous prices then n things will stabilise.
    Unfortunately...it’s all @Exige ’s fault....LOL!

  7. Couldn’t agree more. It’s happening just the same in Porsche circles. Dementing.

    So... sub 10k you think?

  9. I think if people aimed prices midway between what Ex is happy to pay and what he'd be happy to sell for (big gap I know) prices would be about right.

  11. The vendor has been trying to sell this for a while. IIRC, it first appeared last year and I think this is probably the 3rd or 4th time it’s been put up. A lot of money has been spent on it but from my own experience, if you want a track bike, spend your money on a 1098/1198. I was 11 seconds a lap quicker at the end of 3 days on my 1098R at Cartagena than I was on my 748RS based 853 track bike. As an aside, not entirely sure why you’d spend all the time and money sourcing the bits and then not riding it, unless of course the vendor bought the bike as a finished project. Probably worth more in bits. Andy
