They got rid of hydraulic tappets for regular valve adjustment so they could rev higher for racing. There was a downside......they were slow as fook and the valves needed setting all the time. If I remember, they had nice seats though.

Wife went in to antique shop (secondhand tat shop imho) yesterday to look at an old lump of wood that had grapes carved on it and looked like it had been nailed on a fence for 30 years without ever being varnished. How much? €200!! Says to wife ‘make an offer’. €10 she says!! He said ‘it’s 200 years old!! How about €50...’ I don’t ever have a go when she buys anything. At even €10 is have had a go.... this is the approval these dealers take to cars and bikes imho
Yep, they started off with overpriced cars and then decided to have a go at fooking the bike market a few years later. They have succeeded when you see the prices everyone else has started to ask for stuff, dealer and private, after seeing what they ask for their wares.
Yeah, went to shim changes for adjustment. Came with alloy cam cover, unreliable crank sensor, fuel economy shift lights, the best seats (Scheel) ever fitted to a Ford. Apart from the early roll tops. Still have a RS 4 spoke steering wheel in the garage loft.

Why not contact and offer 3500 and see how that goes. It’s not worth much more than 4 imho, it really doesn’t have all the toys of a track bike
It looks better than red bull, orange/silver/blue race rep 996. There was a 851 on Facebook with similar paint job.
It's just that it's off standard that would put me off. But if it was those colours from the factory, I think it would be quite popular.
