What do people think the going rate for a decent 916 biposto is (reasonable miles, service history, well looked after)? I’ve been looking for about a month and have seen a range from around 7-10k depending on originality and mileage. Although I’d like a 916 (long time dream), the upper end of that range would probably get a tidy 996S, which also looks a lovely machine.
I'm no expert but between 7-10 is the ball park for one but like you say get yourself a nice tidy 996 even. I was looking for quite a long time for a 916 but ended up buying a 996 that was local to me full service history with recent full desmo service in march, years MOT engine sweet but a DING on the tank and some paintwork damage( all cosmetic ) for a really good price (haggle haggle). What i'm trying to say is try to be patient(something i'm not)!
I think you've answered your own question on the pricing front on the above machines, some sellers are just unrealistic when they've thousands of miles, lots of owners and a lack of service history etc.keep plugging away and you'll find a nice one out there sometime soon.
Seriously?...when I went to view the bike I thought it was strange he had it running just before I arrived, could feel the heat from the engine block and temperature shot right up when he turned it on. I soon found that at cold start at idle was so rough and to the point it would periodically cut out. Further to that, when you put the handlebar to the left position it would up the revs, pulling on the throttle cable.
