You gotta have doubts when the guy selling the bike doesn't know what he's got or how to describe it???
Mate of mine bought a very similar RG500 a few years ago - all "stripped down - just needs assembly" - it turned into a proper moneypit nightmare and he is a two stroke wizard! Took forever and he blew £3000 when he finally completed and sold it.They are very fickle and fragile machines according to him?
think after 14kmiles it won't be long before it needs a re-build.... YAMAHA RD350LC 4LO - GENUINE PRISTINE UNRESTORED ORIGINAL LOW MILEAGE GEM | eBay
I paid less than this for my 1st house. 1936 Brough Superior SS80 998cc with all Matching Number and Original Reg Number | eBay
Don't wanna come over all smartarse! I do a few Classic Brit bikes and if it's as described and original matching numbers so long as it hasn't had a cheapie resto - it's bargain of 2016!
I know it's "only" the SS80 and not nearly as rare or desirable as an SS100 Alpine Grande Sports but as you probably know the market for "Broughs" has gone mental (especially in the States,Holland and Germany). If marketed worldwide prior to being entered at one of the Top Auction houses I could see it easily making £100,000 and a bit? Obviously you would need to have a deal upfront with auction house cos they aren't shy with their commission? If I hadn't blown my savings on my dream Vincent just before Christmas 2015 I would Defo be on their doorstep with a bag of readies and bashing the dealer up on price
You're wrong there. I know nothing at all about them. I know more about Frank Bough, then I do about Broughs.
I must admit, I always get a good feeling when I see a nice garage with plenty of tools and it's all well organised. Someone who is structured and organised with their garage is more likely to be structured and organised with their maintenance as well, especially if it's backed up with accurate and comprehensive paperwork.
After someone on the Practical Sportsbikes Facebook page posted recently about having purchased a Norton F1 it's got me daydreaming about them again and hankering after one. Shame I'd have to sell all of my bikes (not gonna happen) and empty my bank account (also not going to happen) to be in with a shout of one. I remember when they were a lot more affordable. [emoji17]
