  3. 58 feedback 57 as buyer 1 as a seller just means he buys more than he sells some people don't sell at all. Still seems too good to be true someone is going to get a bargain or burned.

  4. Bargain or burned, very true, Nice bike :)

  5. Last time I eat pickled onions! They always repeat on me

  7. It sounds awful to say it but if you treat ALL e bay items with extreme caution and scepticism you might just might not get scammed and taken for a total mug? I've been a Car dealer/Motor trader for over 42 years and yeah I've pulled a few strokes, gilded the lilly and told a few porkies in my early dealing years but some of the slippery lying cheating scum on e bay make me look like John the Baptist!

  8. If you look at pic 1 of the bike its outside his unit/workshop on paddock stand looking good? Why then would you post the other photos taken in a grubby, dirty unit that looks like a chop shop? It doesn't make sense to me.Also there are a couple of spelling mistakes in the description but this may mean absolutely nothing as not everyone went to Eton or Harrow! He states how long he has owned it - so first job would be to check ownership change dates against the V5,where and what area mots were carried out etc? You would be amazed how many "ringers and cloners" trip up on basic stuff?

  9. Glass is always half full, if you get burned, take it on the chin and move on... my philosophy on life. I got myself through uni buying and selling bikes on eBay, I generally trust a person on their word, but obviously have my eyes open and i am not stupid. I would rather live in a world where to trust someone they have to trust you... we do the same on this forum buying and selling parts and sending money via paypal blind hoping they will post it to them.

Some off my better deals using eBay as a student was a 1 year old SV650 at the time for £200 as he had slid it down the road, did not want the bike anymore as he got scared, not claimed on insurance, I fixed it and sold it for £2500, and another a ST4S for £600 from a guy who had it from new, leo vince pipes, but needs a service and mot, although I had to pay for it unseen immediately, it was fine, and sold it for £3000.

Equally I have bought bikes that turned out to be a lot more hassle than what they are worth... never made a loss yet tho!..... Famous last words....There is always a first.

Anyway, if everyone looks sceptically on bikes because it they were cheap and thought it was because that person was out on the fiddle , then all the more for me. Glass half full and all that. You have to be in it to win it and take a chance. These days I buy the bikes that make me happy and not to sell on, but a bargain is always worth taking. I would rather live in a happier place trusting other and seeing the good rather than waiting for a fall, and if a fall happens then deal with it.

  10. After my ramble, the only thing I would say about he 996 SPS on eBay that would make me doubt it it... they is no mention in descriptions he has the V5, secondly and more importantly no phone number in a classified add, and then the fact it is a classified add, why not list it buy it now to secure the sale, or add a phone number if you want to sell it?

  11. Well spotted Dr D - looks like you know your onions! I don't as a habit distrust people - it just bloody e bay!

  12. Cheers 749ducaticonvert, there are a few rogues out there on eBay, they think they are hidden by the ( to quote fast 'n' furious ) "interweb", but i think eBay has improved loads over the early days ( sending a cheque and hoping for the best ), and these days will always look after the buyer and refund if needed.

But with a bike like this just view it, and then hand over cash if as described, if not walk away, on the other note if I was selling a bike I wouldn't accept paypal, and if I am collect something from eBay it is always cash regardless, if they doubt that, I question it.

I must say I loved buying and selling bikes on eBay, especially as a student and grabbing a cheeky bargain, and beat working in a uni bar! If only my job these days was as much fun!

Happy bike hunting on the 'bay!

  13. I've obviously had my fair share of scammers and slippery bastards in my 40+ years as a Motor Trader! When I finally found out I didn't actually know everything Carwise - it really hurt.I always hankered after my poster car that adorned my bedroom wall as a kid - a 911 Turbo!I had just sold my Cossie RS500 in about 1988,I was doing well at the car dealing and convinced myself I could finally get my hands on one but they were still big money so I would have to make a few concessions and wasn't in the AFN CHISWICK league? I found a LHD White 911 Turbo coupe in exchange n mart for £19995! A little indian guy about 65 from Wembley was selling it for his "Friend" who had undergone serious back surgery and couldn't get in it anymore? Anyway he let me blast the granny out of it down the A40 like a complete loon! It was all one colour, black leather sports seats that were like new, gold split rim alloys (ugh),Becker stereo - all good??? I chipped him easily to £19,000 cashed him up and I had my dream super car - Wahay! All was good - no problems with car and I had been hammering it all over London for 3 months until I copped a 12 week speeding ban so I parked it up at my parents cos too high profile to risk. Then one morning I got a parking ticket for parking it on a double yellow line in EDINBURGH! That's when the shit proper hit the fan! Ho Hum

  14. No way, what happened? Was the car cloned or just another car with your numberplate or vice versa? Did you get to keep the car?

  15. Never found out the full story but Ealing stolen vehicle unit confiscated it twice! First time for 5 days but refused to give me clearance or clear title - then they had it for just over 3 weeks - virtually stripped it and had some expert from Porsche Germany inspect it and he said he could not say if it was right, rung or cloned so I put a solicitor who specialised in Title Disagreements put the squeeze on them by sending in a massive claim to supply me with a comparable hire car and they would be liable for the cost! Anyway - by then I was living most of the year in southern Spain and as it was LHD a Spanish solicitor (proper dodge pot!) arranged to get it registered onto local plate - with a small drink for him and his contact in transport department

  16. Anyone seen these 3 Brit classics on e bay? The Norton and the Velo look value at the moment but will probably get "pulled"if they don't make the money? image.png image.png

  17. Hey that's a cheap bike on its own but with a 749 number plate????? I wonder if that's transferable, and I wonder who owns the 749 with the chassis number ooo749! mine got those numbers but two in the wrong order!

  18. c'mon. no one need to serve 42 years in moto trade to work out that 996sps @ £4k is a fraud...

    i disagree re:ebay .
it is just a platform for advertising ,no different to piston heads and auto trader. you can get scummed anywhere and not just ebay.
