Question's has the Ducati scrambler taken over from the Monster on worldwide sales & fun the rideout label.
Nice to have a little bike to jump on without too much fuss. I had a monster years ago, found them a little cramped, are these better?
IMO, no it has not, two completely different bikes. Whilst the Scrambler is a hoot to ride, the 803cc lacks power and torque. Not sure what sort of rider the 1100 Scrambler appeals too but if you are short it won’t be you. I understand the latest Monster is available in two specifications but only one engine size and has replaced all other models that might still be in stock. That said with the 939 (old) SuperSport engine, the new Monster is much sportier and lighter (165kg dry) than the 803cc Scrambler and, with the surprisingly cheap fork and rear spring kit and lowered seat, gives you a saddle height of 775mm. The looks may divide opinion but I know one person who is seriously considering the new Monster for touring. Andy
So with two different markets / models styles Ducati are playing very smart with catching more disposable income from the punter this way, a bit like two fishing nets launched at the same time.
I really don't know why I'm interested, I've just sold one bike to make some space in the garage and then I'm looking at this like I need it. It never leaves you, that desire.
