  2. "I may break if enough interest 99 percent complete" - Its already broken!

I do enjoy this thread for entertainment value - a '79 Darmah for £6.5 grand in bits - literally bits!

Do people have such sad and empty lives that they would consider taking this on? Obviously, the answer is "Yes".

  4. I had one around that vintage and it took me to the Bol at Circuit Paul Ricard, at least once. That was around 40 years ago. That was then and bikes have moved on a million years, since then. An Aprilia RS660 would be quicker and much more economical. I now have the cash and could buy one tomorrow, if .... they weren't in such short supply and my license is with the gods - well, actually, with DVLA to play keeps with - but what I have absolutely no desire to do, is to pay thousands for a pile of bits that some stranger created and can't be arsed to put back together.

I am very much not "on trend"!

  5. I've discovered that most owners of this type of thing enjoy the building more than riding. You should see the prices of 1970s & 80s bmxs on Facebook, frames can go for a couple of grand! They build them, ride to a pub & then part out to start again.

  6. The alternative's just toss £6000 in used notes on the mattress and invite that naughty neighbour around for a fun packed afternoon.

  7. You haven't seen my neighbours :cold_sweat:

  8. Makes you wonder why somebody would own a bike like that on an Island with nowhere to ride it properly.

  9. Only in circles, but yes seems a little crazy for folks like us riding out all the time in UK.

  10. And the max speed limit in Jersey is 40mph, so you can't even stretch it's legs up to 70mph!, unless the owner has a long drive like Charlie Hungerford!

I also think you need to pay VAT when importing a vehicle from Jersey, so another 20% to consider....

  11. If I recall correctly from the last time I was there, the island has a blanket 50mph limit except in towns where it is 30mph - you wouldn't get out of first gear.

  12. Stand corrected - sorry posts crossed

  13. .....and watch out for Mr Bergerac in that old Roadster.
