For Sale Ebay Bikes

Discussion in 'Ducati Bikes For Sale' started by Rob, Jun 13, 2014.

  1. It's individual, probably fun to ride around town, and has no doubt been put together for next to nothing.
    What's not to like?
I can certainly appreciate the work that's gone in to it, and they've at least had a go.

Not everybody has £20K to spend on a bike that looks like everybody else's.
But some wouldn't know where to start bolting on an aftermarket mudguard, let alone building this.

    Nasher.

  2. Errrrr, out of interest, what was your search criteria.......and why :)?

  3. I have no idea of prices for 998, what would you value it at £9k? Not interested myself, but curious.

  4. It would appear that far too many sellers are jumping to the conclusion their bikes have a (premium) value, possibly lead by the ridiculous prices being asked for a few specific models. Trouble is, many of these bikes are not selling for the asking price which of course the sellers will not admit to. I’d struggle to value this particular 998 but I ask myself does it have the same (or similar value) as an 998FE, an 1198S or a first gen 1199R. IMO, most definitely not. Until recently, you could see a first gen 1199R being advertised for not a lot more. £9,000 ? More like £8k something. Andy

  5. But it's soooooooo pretty.

And anyway, it's got an Elephant on the screen, so just has to be worth a fortune.;)
The screen I've used on my 1000SS/SL hybrid has one, I'd best contact my insurers about the agreed value.

  6. It’s also one of the last real Ducati’s, guess my 851 was a fake then.

  7. Pretty unaffordable for the layman.

  8. Yep, interesting.
I wonder if that just means it won't take the original Neutral switch and needs to be converted to a Multistrada one, or won't take a Neutral switch at all.
I assume Multistradas have a mechanical Neutral switch.

All the same I'll be keeping an eye on it.

  9. The Multistrada cases are an entirely different to the 1098, the neutral sensor is in a different place. No idea why any competent mechanic wouldn’t have known this. Andy

  10. Be interesting to see what the reserve price is. Bit of an odd one. If the reserve price is low, they must know it's a big job. If it's high, it's hardly worth the risk. Seems a bit hinky to me.

  11. The lack of a neutral switch is not the only thing that’s bodged, the rear brake master cylinder isn’t even from a Ducati ! Andy
