Over to @Chris on that question, as i don't know about the engine bracket positions.

 

you can, without doubt, put that engine in an SS, as has been done several times. Whether you stick to injection or change to carbs is only relevant for airbox and tank clearance really. It's a shame @Pablo Pirate isn't on here lately or could get details on the finer points, I wouldn't hesitate if decided to do it.
