Well I'm obviously going to get my bottom spanked for posting up this little number. Here it is, red stitching and a red panel on the pillion on my St4. Sacrelige. Where did I get it? I got it made by the exact same guy that you're looking at. He's in South West London, Which is dead convenient for you in Scotland. To compound matters I designed it. From then on he's been offering my design on eBay without even giving me a royalty. Would you believe it? Only goes to show, a good idea has many fathers. A bad idea's a bastard. Now, please don't make anything of my brothers hand signals. He wasn't to know I'd be posting this image demonstrating his sense of humour and it certainly carries no message to anyone. Gentlemen, you presumably own your machines....you should be allowed to do as you please. Each to their own I say. When recovering these things there is a technique. Rule 1 is, it's a mistake to cover over the existing cover. That is welded to the foam underneath. When you put another layer of leather over the top it becomes too hard. I know, I did it. Much better to rip off the existing welded on cover and put a 25mm layer of memory foam on, then your new cover. Wether it has contrasting stitching and panels or not. I have to say I wouldn't do the Tricolore like this now as the lines don't go with the lines of the bike. On my Panigale I designed the seat cover and it flows with the machines lines much better. I'd best post it on a PM lest I get black balled from the site for outrageous design sense. Hope this helps and I do know an upholsterer but it means sending your seat. Rule 2. There are no rules.
That looks really smart. I dont think it matters if the red is an exact match. Had my seat recovered in vinyl by a cobbler in Warmsworth near Rotherham. He did a 1st rate job. Apparently he does loads of these. Gets work via word of mouth through biking community. Charged me £28.
It's easy enough to re-cover the seat with a decent vinyl type material, but not so easy re-using the 18 year old cover having taken 40mm out of the rider's bit..........took a bit of sweat pulling it down and geting it fixed..........but once done it is perfectly OK.
