Electric Vehicles - The New Future?

  1. This sounds good and feasible but as I'm not a scientist I could be wrong.

  2. My dad is a retired organic chemist (including a stint at ELF) and we spoke about this many years ago after hearing somebody repeat the oft-stated conspiracy theory that someone had worked out how to run cars on water but the petrochemical giants bought and buried the patent (or had the inventor assassinated, depending on the version). In a nutshell, he said that in theory it was possible to run a car on fuel manufactured from water plus CO2 plus energy, but it's just much easier and cheaper to drill the oil and refine it as the skills and infrastructure is already in place.

The technique isn't novel but IIRC, my old man reckoned that getting it out of the lab and into industrial scale production was more to do with cost, the amount of time it would take to make sufficient quantities of the stuff and the amount of energy that needs to be rammed into the process, than anything else. Hopefully this Prometheus guy has cracked those problems though.

  3. my hybrid car lease coming to the end from memory next year end, so I need to get move on ordering new one as deliveries of new cars apparently are shit . I am going full electric, sorry about that...

having said that I just moved 2x of my old cars ( 42 year old SL and 34 year old XJS) from twickenham to Norfolk and each one took quarter of a tank to get here. which its less then my hybrid uses to get here. ( hybrid is a lot heavier admittedly)
stupidly I filled up both cars as I was worried I will run out if hit heavy traffic so have loads of fuel in each one right now. gonna run around Norfolk in old cars to burn it down now!

  4. If they do make a hydrogen internal combustion engine - Suzuki will make a GSX-R version that will be cheaper and quicker than everybody else :D

  5. More importantly, where's @PerryL gone...?

  6. I think he may have left us.

  7. He’s gone to sort out his next bike/car/pot plant/heating system/shower head.

  10. True. I bet Elon Musk has definitely taken it to heart. Wrecked his Christmas and everything.

  11. Electric self driving cars, eating processed matter for food, vaccines every six months to protect against whatever.

All this from governments that gain their power from their printed money, that is fast loosing its power the more of it they print.

Money makes things happen. No money, no show.

  12. Blame those driving self driving cars, eating processed food and getting vaccinated against something they have no idea of then. None of those are compulsory. People are thick as shit, generally.

  14. didnt you take a vaccine Paul?

  15. And I don’t like the sound of ‘over the air updates’ This tells me your car can be remotely disabled.

  16. I don't know anyone who knows much about the vaxx, they just don't want diphtheria, smallpox, covid or polio. I also don't know anyone who doesn't eat a fair amount of dairy products. Do people really not drink milk or eat cheese -they must be mad! So leaving aside self driving cars which I know nothing of; being "thick as shit" is most of us and sounds rather worse than it is...
