FWIW, I think we should keep the negative emojis. Obviously we need to play nicely but that doesn’t mean the forum has to become some sort of “positive vibes only” safe space where the only options are to agree or stay silent. Instagram is like that and I hate it. I do think we need more emojis though, as the current range doesn’t nearly encompass the magnificent and awe inspiring breadth of emotions that make up the human condition. That applies to both the ratings emojis and the emojis for inclusion within messages
One this this thread has proved is that the vast majority, that expressed an opinion, do like the "negative" emojis.. so perhaps they should stay and just suck it up if you get any?
This ^^^ Tbh, It's only recently I found out what the "nuke post" emoji meant. I didn't know if it meant "I want to destroy that comment" or "That comment is so amazing it blows all the others to pieces". My money was on the former but recent events have clarified that.
I’ve always believed it to be the former, ie that’s a shite post that deserves to be deleted/edited. However, I suppose It could be open to different interpretations and now you’ve pointed that out it would certainly explain previous nuclear wars where in actual fact the protagonists may have actually been bigging each other up rather than trying to destroy each other with negative ratings. Hmm, I’m confused now but hey ho, this is a man who got confused undoing a wing mirror and turned the nut the wrong way edit : should have read ‘bigging’ not ‘bugging’ - autocorrect error
I think a Nuke was how we locked out the spam. You may not remember, but those of us that get up at silly O'clock had a flood of spam on the forum selling erectile solutions or arse creams or some other crap using spam accounts. Some days it took the whole front page. Once it has a few Nukes it disappeared (it may be the lock thread..I can never remember). El T and Rob worked hard and I don't think the spam bots manage to get through any more. We used to have a really cool set of Emoji's (more and bigger and Cooler)... something about cost too much when we changed platform, so they went.
Yep. Let’s hug it out guys cos I feel there’s a lot of love in this room tonight. @AirCon - I don’t know if you decided not to ignore me in response to me telling DB I wasn’t going to ignore you, but the reason I don’t want to is that I actually find a lot of your content interesting and funny. If you audit the ratings you’ve received from me over the months, even as recently as today and yesterday, you’ll find that most are and We defo need an “olive branch” emoji....
Looks like the powers that be thought otherwise and have made some positive changes to the "Likes", so a useful thread. I wonder if we will get any new ones ?
Disappointing that of those I reached out the olive branch to only @AirCon @Exige and @Zhed46 have decided to get on board. oh well, I tried. much appreciated @Exige @AirCon
I belong in the " Modern Life is Rubbish " category , but I have to say that emojis can be pretty useful . When having a conversation in a pub ( for example ) , body language , tone of voice , and facial expressions tell us a great deal more about what is going on than just the spoken words . Plain text alone takes most of that away . It's Saturday morning , so a good time to state the blindingly obvious ..... But as with everything , it's easy to go overboard .... here are some examples from another site .... out of a possible 8 pages of emojis !
Please , no ..... just NO ! Odd you should mention Mario though ... I was watching this series from CNBC ( some are drivel but many are an interesting watch ) and this one mentions the " gaming platform wars " , back in the day
Someone has really messed it up, instead of getting better emoji's we seem to have lost some, can't believe they have just been taken away without any consultation, I'm off now to look for the lost facepalm, I won't be back until I find it. By for now!!
