I phoned them back in June and got the same response but I passed static at Cadwell at 103db. The rub though is that they were supposed to be lowering all the limits to 102db which would put me out! And then invokes the ride by need with stock pipes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had the same when I spoke to the office early this year. It's not correct, although it's probably not good to make a bid deal out of it in case they start pushing Brands Hatches zero tolerence policy out to the other circuits!
This has been covered a lot! Seems hit & miss. I've failed static every time I've been to brands but don't have a problem with the ride by or the noise testers. A while back there was a guy on a 1199 which I'm sure had a cored silencer because I've never heard a panigale so noisy, and he murdered the static but didn't trigger ride by. They initially said he couldn't run but he had a word in race control explaining it was standard and they let him out. As above it didn't trigger the ride by. You shouldn't have an issue with the standard pipe. They will not let you run with a termi unless is passes static. Which it wont standard. Little tip, make sure the bike is warm, lean the bike over and pull the clutch in. It DOES make a slight difference. Which may be the margin you need.
Also, if you put it in wet mode it is easier to keep it slightly below the 5,000rpm they are asking, which means the flapper might stay closed and give you a little more margin. Even disregarding the flapper, it will be slightly quieter at 4,800 than 5,200, so never go above 5k if you can help it.
For the sake of a loss of a couple of BHP (that I probably never use) I'm going to stick the standard on just to be on the safe side.
Yeah, it makes some sense. I'd like to do a comparison between the noise level at full rpm of standard cans and Termis with baffles in as it wouldn't surprise me if the standard cans were louder and its the drive by that are zero tolerence on the tracks. The baffles rob you of the top 10-15mph but you dont really use that on any of the UK tracks anyhow.
I agree with the warming up comment. I took my mates through noise test as he is disabled and it was 106db, took it out up the paddock and got it really hot and it was 104.xdb the next day we just told the testers it was a gsxr1000 instead of 750 so that we only had to rev to 5k ;/) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
