No matter what people say, it won't make a difference to the engine you have in the bike. Just look after it and let God's will be what it will. Worrying never changed anything, apart from one's stress levels.
My old 1098 has now 16k on it and at least the middle 4K was fast group track days and it's still going strong. Thousands of these engines are made there are always going to be a few go pop. Just luck of the draw
just a thought do the 848's suffer with these problems or does sit just affect the 1098? if so im more tempted to go for a 848.
I would take note of post #16 - if Nelly has only seen a couple (and these being thrashed race bikes) in all the years he has been servicing and looking after these bikes at CornerSpeed then I would just look for a 1098 with good service history and continue to look after it
