Just my sense of humor maybe, but I think you are being a little naïve here. Why would you tell the insurance company and potentially pay a higher premium? A full system you cannot hide and is clearly stated not for road use and doing so you know full well that you are breaking the law just hoping that you never get pulled over, the re-map is hidden in plain sight. Literally no one but you and the installer would know this re-map has been done. Even a dealer might not possibly see it unless they were specifically looking for it. Maybe once the machine is older and the grace period has run out it may be picked up by the emissions testing during an MOT, other than that you're good. Bottom line, unless you horribly murder innocent children plus a kitten in a terrible accident whereby the smallest details will be under scrutiny no one will know that you have done this.
The unit would as far as I know , but currently checking with Motobull , extract the current fuel map , not the other system maps as it a fueling software not a full system software, but can see you question . Im no sofware engineer but I would imagine the unit would identify the fuel map and deal with that as the bike as a unit remains the same but the fueling is improved.
The unit is available, think they have it listed on one site , not sure which one but it exists as it’s running mine and very well as well .
Interesting that for much of the time in the revs used on the road, the V4 granturismo makes more power than the V4 Panigale Desmo Stradale engine.
The only real reason I would go for the BHP tune over the Bren at the moment is a UK base/support system. Interested to see what the de-cat brings to the table
I spoke to BHP today at the NEC. The Bhp unit is £500 (at the NEC) and a single map. It works in the same way as the Bren unit.
I spoke to cal the owner whom has a pikes peak, he did say his unit has some advantages that the bren unit doesn't have, he's also developed a decat, its on show in the glass cabinet @ the show, its roughly going to cost £1100 but he did say it might only be manufactured on demand.
we spoke to him too earlier in the week. our concern was that ok you can switch back to the OEM map before you take your bike in for a service etc but can Ducati see that the map has been switched even if standard one is loaded. he didn't say categorically 100% that they couldn't but he very much didn't think so. we are pontificating
