V4 Engine Tune V4 Multi

  1. I think the other thing is.. if Ducati bring out a new map with a bugfix (like the injectors one recently), do BHP/Bren then backport those fixes into their maps, and then do they make them available to people who bought them previously.

  2. Just bumping this thread, wondering how those who fitted a non-OEM map are getting on?

  3. Yes, I'd be interested to see how, a year on, people are finding the Bren / BHP flashes.
Coming from the BMW S1000RR forum the Bren was not particularly well thought of. But I can see the advantages of being able to revert back to stock.

  4. I just ordered brentune for my 22 Ducati Multistrada V4S.
Looking through the resources tab the description of location of fuse box is not the same as my bike.
I've included two pics one is from btmoto site the other is from my owners manual.
On my bike it's showing a bbs1 and bbs2 fuse which do I pull before writing ? Thanks Buck

  5. Email Brentune. When I installed mine on my Streetfighter they were excellent at promptly answering my questions.

  6. also interested in annual update

  7. Hello...
I was looking for specific reviews on the BHP UK remap for the V4 multistrada. The closest I got was this thread, but it seems to lack any direct reviews. So I'll try to be helpful and share my experience after a couple of days riding my bhp remapped v4 Pikes Peak which has no engine/exhaust modifications.

The bottom line is that it's a fantastic tranformation and in my view you should just do it. The dyno graphs they show on YouTube don't tell the whole story. There are patial throttle flat spots that are removed but the significant change is the much smoother more responsive engine throughout the low to mid- upper range. The off throttle pick up is smooth with no hint of snatchiness. I found my self generally one gear higher when riding slowly. Also the sudden/extreme closed throttle engine braking is all but eliminated. The engine is now fully useable between 3000 and 4000

The engine modes still work incuding low power (default in urban mode) - although I didn't try revving it out in that mode - pointless I think. I've changed Sport mode to Medium power at least while I get used to the extra response. I changed Race mode to be like default Sport but with High power so I could play with it.

Fuel economy is unchanged as far as I can tell so far - It may even be slight better due to riding with reduced revs sometimes.

  8. Do you work for BHP? Because you may have just sold one!!

For me, I have just ducked out on the RS so was looking at this route as I'll keep the PP for another year or so. Also just ordered a few extra goodies as well such as the RS tail. Going to wait until Ducati sort out their model revisions that are allegedly in the pipeline.

Any issues with the software process? I had been told by my dealer re-tuning the multi can be sketchy and some people have had issues? Unless of course it's the fear factor being thrown in.

  9. No I don't work for BHP, but wish I was on commission! As I said, I posted this because I found no reviews specific to the v4 PP.
It's a very straightforward process - essentially follow the instructions both on the PC and the handheld device. They do have some guidance videos but these are not Ducati specific. Things I found are:

Reading the existing ECU map takes so little time it doesn't appear to do anything - just says task completed.
The file uploaded to the PC app is very small - 7KB
The modified map file is much larger - around 1 MByte
Uploading the new map to the ECU takes 5-10 minutes and includes multiple ignition on/off cycles. It also throws up a lot of error messages on the dash. The final step deletes the error log.
Somewhere in the process the PC app prompts to download a file whidh implies you have to start pulling BBS fuse when uploading to ECU - I asked BHP and you don't need to.

BHP support is really good, I phoned to checked the original file size and type were as expected. The device was delivered next day by RM Special delivery and the modded file within 2-3 hours of my sending the original.

    Hope this helps

  10. Why do you have to send them your original file?

  11. No idea - you'll have to ask BHP

  12. Do they send it back?

  13. My guess, what you are sending over is a file full of lines of code, so probably easier for them to modify few lines of code on current data, as opposed to writing it up from scratch, risking the data not being correct (something missing)

  14. If you can’t change back to the standard map before a service it gets wiped and replaced by the latest Ducati map, is my understanding.

  15. You also have the issue if the original map is updated the BHP map will not reload as it’s unable to connect back to the ECU . Works well but flawed . Went back to the full system and Evo mapping . As good and factory. You can get them to do a new map but this has a cost .

  16. What does all this do to your Ducati warranty?

  17. Voids it if you have an engine failure. :(

  18. What up map?

  19. Does the BHP warranty step in, if that happens?

  20. Anything other than the officially applied one that goes with the Akra set up afaik.

    It’s a risk, albeit a small one.
