If every country had kept their own currency,but they had introduced the euro as a community-wide,standalone currency,(accepting it being a condition of EU membership),I think most people would have gone for it.I certainly would. Might have been a little more complicated,dual-currency tills etc,but not impossible:I remember buying diesel in Denmark years ago in 5 different currencies for one tank of fuel,the cashier just used the daily paper to work out the exchange rates. Still not a fan of the EU in general though...
