Is that the ridiculous long winded scaremongering shit he emailed out? Link doesn't work. If it is its shocking, either he can manage to move his clients bikes or he can't, just based on the email I wouldn't use them.
the link seems to work for others, not sure why not for you sorry. but yes, I think it's the same as the email that they sent. whats written seems pretty matter of fact imho, and the info tallies with much of what has already been discussed here.
No one will.l know for certain until they can do Euro trackdays which I can't see happening until July/August time. Ultimately if a customs officer decides the paperwork isn't correct, then the truck wont be allowed through.
Very good article here by the excellent Mat Oxley about the effect on two British race teams What does Brexit mean for British teams and riders? - Motor Sport Magazine
Nope, UK government has stated that piece of EU legislation will not be adopted by the UK. At least it should mean MotoGP and WSBK have a UK round. Andy
Maybe people will start realising the EU really is a bullying schoolboy at times like this I wonder how many days would be lost if the like of NL pulled their fates abroad because of this? And how does that benefit that EU state?
The Carnet deal is reciprocal, so yes it works both ways. Can't be aresed to read the whole thread, I guess it goes like mosr of the internet threads on this subject, following the ACU's somewhat misleading cut and paste job the other week. TL/DR. Expect to pay an extra £35ish to cover this on a Euro trackday with the usual TDO's
thats about the size of it when the TDO does the transport. The question still remains that if you transport your own track bike & kit and you don't pay for a Carnet, will you get stung for import vat and duty whenever you cross the border? the answer to that is still unclear sadly
alas likely to be only when you try, you find out. And that depends on if gendarme has had a good or bad day...
Speaking to one of the track day orgs yesterday, this is the exact question outstanding. Using them to transport is clear, it's those people in a van going on their own steam that isn't.
If the bike is registered in your name, and you are going to a trackday, you shouldn't need a carnet. Racing or a exhibition, you will need a carnet. I guess If you have a stickered up track bike in your van on the way to a track day you could have picky customs guy who decides you're going racing who will insist you pay up. As you say, this and a million other things have to be proved and sorted out. All a colossal pain in the arse.
Government advisor has just said travel abroad this year is unlikely. So all those months when we should have closed the borders and didn't mean we all now to have suffer. Fuckwits. And all those businesses, track day companies, airlines, holiday companies - i would guess the chances of them surviving the year are zero.
Seems odd. I know someone who’s in Paris at the moment and someone who is off to Italy next week. not a holiday granted. But not exactly business either
From what I can see, this wasn’t a government statement either ? it was a government advisor.. it seems to change whatever day you look at the news. Not saying holidays will be doable by the way. Just saying it’s somewhat anyone’s guess predicting what this government will do next
