I had an e-mail from Ryanair today with the offer of a voucher. I eventually managed to contact them via the web chat and reject the voucher for a refund. Refunds will only be proceed when government restrictions are lifted, apparently all the refund team have been sent home, however all the sales teams are working just fine...
Not much joy from visa....I expect the little guy is going to be carrying the can on this one big time!
My lad spoke to his after his holiday cancelled. They said the company has to have chance to resolve/refund before they can act. You've given them that opportunity. Article 75??? Something like that. If its more than £100 and you paid anything on your card, they are liable.
Check with yr own visa provider. I discussed two issues with mine. Ryanair - sticky one at the moment as they haven't refused a refund, they're just dicking customers about and using deliberate prevarication tactics to frustrate refunds. TDO - she suggested/hinted visa are also changing tactics/t&c's in light of C-19 and would be not perusing any claim where the organizer had sighted 'government orders' as the reason for the cancellation. You have 120 days after the date of the flight/event to commence action using visa. I'm sitting tight for now,if after another month or so nothing has changed I may get the process under way. I'm a little concerned that if the claim back via visa fails (it can be contested by the vendor) the offer of the voucher/credit will vaporize. It would seem all this will be a test of all these fluffy guarantees/acts & legislations. All a bit shit.
Im in the mind of taking vouchers for my easyjet flights purely because getting the money back sounds like an epic. However read you can only use one voucher per flight which is a tad annoying and if it's worth more than the flight you get no money back.
FE informed me deposits for cancelled events can now be re-purposed to future events. The truth is, if the airlines had to refund you, there would be no airline. Better to take a slightly unsatisfactory alternative and move on.
I think Ryan is well-known for setting the bar as low as possible. It's a lesson I have learnt the hard way on the few occasions I had no alternative.
If you don't take a refund but loads do and the airline goes bust anyway, you wont get a flight or a refund directly.
With regards to Flight refunds, Jet2 refunded me without any questions asked. Stated I wanted the refund and within 7 days it was done. Ryanair are pants tbh, I raised it with Visa nearly 6 weeks ago and still waiting. It's £49 so would be good if they decided to refund it for future business, I can see it costing Ryan more in the long run anyway. Easyjet have opened up the booking until end of March 2021, so swapped my flight over for Jerez 2021.
Paul, when Jerez 2020 was cancelled with NL, I asked them to transfer the credit note to Jerez 2021. I will ring them when the dates are announced to confirm it.
So, you couldn't have rescheduled the flight to Jerez 2021 if no confirmed dates for the track time? I think that's what Paul is inquiring?
Doesn’t take a Rocket scientist to work out that it’s highly likely to be the same weekend the following year. Anyway flights can be moved if it isn’t.
