Agreed, I’m not having if Spain has increased their blockade to the 12th that on the 28th of the same month I’d be content to swan it round Almeria out and about with a pint of Estrella.
The bigger companies like NL and FE have a chance if surviving this but I fear for the like of Redline. Redline are a cracking TDO and I really hope they can survive this. Not only because I’ve got Portimao and Cartagena booked in October and November but because they do offer a better service than others.
Not so sure about that. Bigger doesn't always mean stronger in business. In fact bigger can often be more sensitive to a stymied cash flow. Think about it- it seems to be the big boys like FE and NL that are being the slippery bastards with refunds right now. The smaller outfits, like Tracksense, are refunding without fuss. But definitely agree the smaller outfits offer better service. A few quid more per event, but worth every penny.
I go out with a company called Farside which is run by a great guy who runs it as not for profit but instead like a club. He refers to it as his version of a golfing holiday. As it's not his 'job' I'm hopeful that he will also be able to postpone the events he has in the diary and come back next year, but I'll be supporting him for sure because he runs an amazing trip and I met some great people. If the big operators go down, it will be a real shame but there will be people out there willing to organise great trips and get people on track and so I hope we see them re-appear in some form or another.
For me Pacedayz are the best out of them all. They only do 2 or 3 events every year so hopefully they'll be OK. I know they have Cartagena night in the summer and Alcarras around October so hopefully they'll still go ahead. One things for sure is that if there's still no UK dates in the summer and then the curfew is lifted to allow the Euro dates to go ahead in the autumn and winter then there will be a mad scrambled to get booked up. Might be worth booking winter dates now to ensure a space, which might also help out TDOs. Wonder if there will be the possibility for the TDOs to move their dates to later in the year? I'm sure they will sell them out if there's no events all summer.
You're right, there'll be a mad rush when the smoke clears and all us track day junkies look for a fix! Trouble is now, my work schedule has been totally grenade'd.... Not a fekin clue where I'll be when....
I’ve a feeling I’ll be the same but I’ll need to see. Both of us will want back on the same rota as it’s my turn to work Christmas and I’ve already got Trackdays at Portimao and Cartagena booked
FE have now confirmed the cancellation of Almeria at Easter and given these options: Move your event to a later FE Event. To have a credit note for the full amount paid, valid for 24 months. A refund, less your booking fee of £200.00
NL charged me 50% when I had to cancel PI due to illness (torn muscle so months of rehab). 5 months before the event. No fucks given by them. Even if they sold the spot, that kept my £500
Fuck em, people wont forget this. It will resonate for years in the TD community even after the economy’s been propped back up.
