That's interesting because I purchased one of the last pre dvt models and is on a 15 plate, I was also sold on the availability of an extended warranty being available but a few months ago the warranty went tips up, I consulted my dealer on this at the time and I could have had the warranty extension there and then but he advised that the new product when it eventually comes will be no worse but might be better so I decided to wait, be interesting to see if I qualify or not. I think ducati need to start appreciating their current customers and not losing them along with any bad publicity in the process which will undoubtedly reduce the possibility of attracting new customers. A lot of excellent competitive bikes there now, s1000xr, ktm SD gt....
I read the bulletin today at the dealer and from what I can work out you can take the extended warranty out upto 7 months from date of purchase or upto the 30th September but as off the 1st October 2016 it will only be available at point of sale. Check with your dealer as they all seem to have a different view.
Sent my email to Ducati 2 days ago and no reply yet so not holding out a lot of hope for my Sept 15 DVT
My dealer said they are only covering 2016 bikes, and you must commit six months after registration. Also at that point you have to buy 1 year or 2 years, you can't add an extra year after the first year. Given previous experience I've booked up 2 years.
This is frustrating, really wish this had been out sooner. Probably look at selling my july 15 bike shortly after 2 years of ownership, at the rate its gone so far I don't think i'll be able to afford to keep it without Ducati paying my bills!
My dealer just called me without any prompting, and I have secured 2yrs for my Monster 12R for £469 (I was told it is only available until the end of July)
Heck of a thing when you have to blow another £650 to extend the warranty by 2yrs on a brand new motorcycle
I agree Franksie, and i will be doing the same when I eventually get my bike. But its also a damning indictment on a brand new motorcycle don't you think ?
I'm not worried about the bike breaking although if something does go, I now have peice of mind that if the engine blows at 170+ mph on an autobahn it'll get replaced swiftly. I do as most 'love' my bike but its a machine that I've now spent best part of 25K on. It's been used & admired without too much gushing & cleaning applied. Whilst I'm earning extra money during this summer splashing out on an extra two-year warranty just makes sense as its a limited offer. I had my bmw f800gs engine blow up two months out of warranty so I'm aware of the knock on effects. Taxi's, hiring another vehicle & inconivence of changing routines, money not been available as of the previous item. All I'm doing is removing a phantom moment of aniexty if the bike goes tits up.
I totally agree and in 30 years of owning Jap bikes I never thought once about taking out any additional warranty, now that I really want to Ducati don't want to know. I do love the bike but at the end of the warranty period I think it will be moved on and back to boring utility Jap bikes .... or an XR if they have sorted out the vibes by then.
Just heard back from Ducati "The last available date you are able to purchase the Ever Red Warranty will be on 30/09/2016. After this date it will only be available on new bikes purchased from 1st October and cannot be back dated Yours sincerely Bobbie Aftersales department"
That's not correct, discussed with dealer who checked and it clearly states 2014 models onwards, there is the issue about you must have purchased it no longer than 7 mths ago but I have queried this as it leaves a lot of people high and dry who purchased last year and we're waiting for the replacement warranty.... Even more annoying due to the fact that you couldn't extend the warranty until you were at least 18 mths into the manufacturers warranty....
