That definitely happened to me which was as follows: Opportunity to extend warranty for a further two years but you can't purchase this at the point of sale however it can be purchased when in your second year of ownership At the end of the PCP your bike will definitely be worth more than the final balloon payment and thus you will have more than enough back to cover a deposit on an upgrade, this is due to ducati being a premium branded product. These two points made the sale in my situation but I guess it did for a lot of people who were after a premium product with the option of extended warranty and customer support...
I've also recently asked Riders in Bristol about this extended warranty availability as many others have similarly noted, with similar results for my 2015 purchased Pikes Peak (last 2014 type, just pre-DVT), i.e. not possible. However, I was offered a product from Auto-Protect for two years at £349, which seemed pretty good when compared to/with Warranty Direct products, which I have used before on my 2010 plate MTS. Has anyone had or got any experience of Auto-Protect, good or bad worth talking about? Feedback would be really appreciated.
I have had similar with Riders and the same offer, however you only have to google Auto-Protect feedback on the net to get your answer, not encouraging , claims rejected with std answer wear and tear not covered etc, dealers making claim on your behalf and not getting paid, 90% negative with 10% positive feedback from what I've read so not worth it. As you say, interesting to see if anyone has any direct feedback and whether your dealer can do the work first then claim from Autoprotect themselves.
Got my multi serviced yesterday and the dealer said that they were doing third year warranty (again) for 380 ish.
He said ducati to me. Were doing a third year warranty again. I had said to him i had read they had stopped it. But the way he spoke. Implied it was a ducati warranty. Youd need to call dealer to verify. Hope that helps
Just to let those who intend to take out the ever red extended warranty, that the cut off date for this is the 30th September. After this it's only available at the point of sale. Just thought I'd let you know.
Had an email from my dealer today informing me of the Ever Red extended warranty option, which I have to take out by September 30th as that is the cut off date. I bought my DVT new in May. I knew nothing about it until I saw the email, then looked here and saw this thread. I'll probably go for the 12 month extension unless I can convince myself that I won't want to change my bike until 4 years is up...
It's a disgrace that Ducati are unwilling to offer something to those who had no choice on purchase or subsequently. Mine was a my 16 bought Aug 15 so falls outside. Wonder how much of that is fear of all the issues they will have on bikes from that age....
Thanks for this guys, not a peep from the dealer offering this for my March 16 DVT, piss poor really, it only takes a courtesy call, text or e mail, or would they rather we didn't know ? I will be having a moan when I call them and hand over more of my money.
I don't think it is fear of issues but more to do with their lack of acknowledging that there are people outside of their timescale, they should have just stated that everyone who purchased a new motorcycle and qualified for the warranty that was removed will qualify for the new warranty, this would have then left nobody out... Clueless and makes them look like idiots... Thank goodness for the SOGA in the event of an issue and you are covered more than an extra year!
Paid for the extra year this morning. Offer ends for recent purchases tomorrow. After that it's only available at point of sale.
Well done sparky boy, big bloody big chunk though in'nt :Arghh: I do hope it's a waste of money mind, then I'll end up kicking myself
Just an update on my experience, really glad I bought the extra 2 years as a simple fault in a wire has required a new rear suspension unit (£2,500 for the parts) Anyone know if you can buy this if you buy an almost new ex demo bike?
Probably a negotiating option Chris definitely worth trying, however, as I found out it is NOW only available to decide upon and to buy within 20 days of purchase of a new bike, for either 1-2 years. Push hard and you may well be successful. I've committed to the 2 year option @ circa £650'ish, which as you say, when faced with a potential bill like the one you are talking about with the shock repairs, pales into insignificance...…..
