Pete, S/S sections duly arrived and now fitted. No need to use alternative length bolts either and they fit really well. They certainly will add additional strength and resistance to damage, in the event I decide to drop the bike. Here's hoping I don't have to provide any future feedback on that statement....... Be aware that whilst these solid hand guard protectors might stop damage to the bike, in some accidents they might do some serious damage to your hands and/wrists.
IMHO, they only serve as some insurance to keep the fluid reservoirs level in the event of a drop. If you're away from a dealer or / and on a longer road trip then I can see some value in having them. However, I don't tour, therefore I just see them as just another expense to replace in addition to the plastic OEM part.
