  1. Hello and welcome misspdave
It's a mad house in here
I see you have already met the locals :)

  2. The picture of your ex bike - was it taken long after the accident or straight after Davette?

  3. Those phots were taken before it was picked up by the salvage people a little after the accident.

  4. Was worried about the rust on the inside of the frame tubes if it was fresh! Hand it been rained on?

  5. I would expect that to be normal as it is untreated

  6. You have just caused everyone on this forum to be very nervous!!!

  7. no need,, it will be a fairly superficial layer of rust ( oxidation from air trapped in the tubes ) this is fairly common in all box section / tubular structural constructions............ that is why many things are made from angle rather than enclosed section

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  8. Still scary - tube looks quite thin. At least the weld held up ;)

  9. yes I was wondering if you saw that,, all mig welding tho don't know what tube they use

  10. Welcome Dave :)

  11. Round...and rusty

  12. I guess those frame plugs that folk have are designed to keep the rust in??

  13. I have just cut my 1983 Kawasaki frame to pieces and there was no rust on the internal pipes at all... so I would imagine the rust came soon after the accident... or the frame tubes were already a little rusty on the inside prior to welding - they won't oil the inside for storage in the factory and certainly won't have stock rotation in Italy.

I know someone who ordered an 1199 and a Paso turned up!

  14. not really,, the more air that gets in then the more rust.

  15. Welcome abroard

  16. He was joking - the plugs do not plug the frame internals from the outside - the frame is sealed to the air apart from the cross tubes where the plugs go

  17. the rust has certainly not formed post accident as you will notice the break is still clean .. interesting about the Kwak frame as any treatment pre manufacture will be burned off when welding,, unless they are oiled / treated post manuf

  18. Good spot - so everyone - all your frames are like this on the inside - ride with confidence :Wideyed:
Anyone else chopped a frame and found this when modifying?
