  8. We had a busy night last night, timber and I. We were out for his walk in the woods during the storm last night when a large tree came down beside us and straddled the tram lines. We dialled the emergency services and managed to get a warning out just in time. The tram still hit it but at a much lower speed than it would have done and nobody was hurt.
Timbers in work this morning but found it all a little exhaustive last night.

  10. I am always shouting "TIMBER"! He is usually doing something he shouldn't be . I wondered why everyone kept ducking around me. That was a ferocious storm last night, probably the worst I have ever experienced. I live in a valley which runs roughly North-South and the wind speed was awesome funnelling up through the wood.

  11. whys he called timber? we had a timber wolf for about 10 years she was called T. if anyone official askd it was a husky/mallimote cross. although the 6 claws wood give it away. beautiful dog, irreplaceable. in-the house or garden totally chilled. out side not so. dont think i would have another wolf breed

  12. He is a wolfdog Fin. German shepherd/Carpathian wolf cross. Illegal to own in the UK without a wild animal licence up until about 6 years ago. The breed is Saarloos or Czech wolfdog, they are the same cross in essence but one originates in Holland (1921) and the other with the Czech army from the fifties for border patrol. Not sure where you get the 6 claws from Fin, both dogs and wolves share the same 5 claws and then the dew claw on the front paws as far as I am aware?
He is a mix at times, he will guard like a german shepherd but he will also hunt like a wolf and he is damn good at it if he gets a chance. He howls as a wolf and sometimes struggles to bark as a german shepherd would which is funny as the mouth goes but no sound emits although he usually manages it.
I simply went for this breed as I had a Rottweiler previously that succumbed to cancer and after looking for a german shepherd I realised they also had several health issues. The road that led me to this breed was the fact it was introduced simply to give good health back into the german shepherd breed. The breed has no known health issues but they are not for the faint hearted as they succumb to separation anxiety very easily and also require a huge amount of exercising. Timber, or "teeth" as most people know him as, works with me, comes to the pub with us, holidays abroad (ask lightning650!) and is rarely left alone in the house. If I could not have offered this I would have chosen a different breed.
Sorry, I rattled on a bit there lol.

  15. yip. argyll uk. T had 6 claws both rear. fantastic dog also had long haird rotti. wouldnt have another wolf due to the amount of walking we do, got fed up being dragged every where (bet we do tho) as i said before in side the garden totally chilled. even the mother in law couldn't do any thing with her, obedience and flyball competitor crufts and the like. had an uttanagen from a pup same mind set. gonna stick to G.S.D now straight back of coarse.

  16. My neighbour in bonnie Scotland had a dug with 6 claws called Griff. He was the cuddliest sweetest mutt. He'd hang around the backs behind the hooses and liked to bark and give it the big un but we'd all just cuddle him to death. Thought his 6 claws were a freak. He was a big cuddly hairy dug and all the kids loved him. Piercing eyes.

  17. i am told its a throw back but no expert, the misses and her mother know there stuff tho.

  18. just had a proper look at timber same markings boot T got much longer gob.

  19. Wolves are handsome animals.

My father always had Irish Wolfhounds. (He moved from Dumfries to Oregon many years ago) Vulnerable to illness they were but great fun gentle beasties. He also had two odd dogs. Bear and Teddy. Coloured like a labrador. As big and hairy as a Newfoundland. Plus a huge great dane that had only one brain cell and that was on holiday. He loved big mutts but they were all gentle things.

    I want a dog now.

  20. Fin, you got any pics of "T" please? Would love to see her!
