Excessive wind ('uncledons' wings/wind deflectors)

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by chickenman, Aug 27, 2012.

  1. Email sent - maybe a good idea if others who were interested emailed them too?

  2. Mail sent.

  3. Hi RB, I'm happy with either

    Cheers.

  4. Response from ERA in mailbox asking what colour I would like. Let's hope they get them into production quickly, I'd really like some reduced wind noise

  5. Me too

  6. Have you got a web or email address I don't use windows live so the link won't work:upyeah:

  7. Robin, ref the 'perfect set' - are you still planning on visiting Eagle? You've done a pretty damn fine job with your prototypes but there has to be limits (?) as to how precise/how good a fit/shape you can achieve with DIY methods so I imagine there could be scope for fine tuning if the tech guys at Eagle had the opportunity to have a good look at an MTS1200 and the final parts you produce with you. Maybe they would take molds of the inner fairing panel for the perfect fit for example?

......kudos to you for all the time and effort you've put into this poject! :D

  8. Ok here's the article, the story so far so to speak (to be continued:)

  9. On a slightly different note, I recently saw (and I'm now kicking myself for not taking photos) that someone had made their own hand guard 'extenders'. They'd cut and shaped some 3-4mm thick material, polypropolene, I think, and put heavy-duty velcro strips horizontally across the top (inside) of each piece and put corresponding velcro strips across the bottom (outside) of the standard hand guards and pressed them on, thereby extending the hand guard vertically (down) by about 2.5". They'd also drilled a hole in each new piece and cable tied them to the mounting hardware (just in case, I guess). They looked rather smart. I'll get photos if I ever see them again.

  10. Hi Andy, Will be chasing up Eagle Screens on Monday, its time to piss or get off the pot as they say. t965m, will put together an article on how they are made (its easy) and perhaps Andy could post it with the earlier article. Maybe riders could make their own while I'm chasing up a professional. Will be meeting chickenman on Tuesday to exchange notes over a cup of coffee.

  11. Cheers RB. Happy to give it a go - I can always use some masking tape

  12. Have been swapping emails with Eagle Screens today. Could a Perth, Western Australian MTS1200 owner who is interested in having a set of wind deflectors fitted to their bike please PM me. The mould will be made from this set and made available to everybody. The process will not cause any damage your bike and you will be rocketed to star status in the Ducati Multistrada community.

  13. Thanks Robin...........I've been spreading the word re a WA volunteer ;-) ..........hope you had a good trip and meet with Don :D

  14. Hi Andy, an update for you. Met with Don aka Chickenman, a great guy and full of idea's. He lent me a set of his wind deflectors which I found to produce similar benefits to the set I have made. Again I couldn't imagine riding my bike now without a set installed. Sent you a draft of a "DIY manual" for you to critique and have nine sets of blanks to bend and fit over the weekend. One set to Don and two sets to Eagle screens. Still no word from a Perth Multi owner, but fingers crossed.

  15. Hi Andy, Chickenman's wings on a Red Multi with a Puig short screen.

  17. Any chance you could send me a copy of the manual so I can have a go at making a set? Cheeky I know but if you don't ask...

  18. I think Andy intends to share the "DIY Manual" with everybody by putting it on his website along with an earlier article; OZ Wings – Multistrada Wind Deflectors, Concept to Reality”
