sorry to bang on about the RSV4 but it's one of the complaints owners seem to raise, the 2 rear pipes basically run about 1cm from the shock gas canister and claim they loose damping at track and on long rides on hot days, luckily Ducati seem to have positioned the expansion reservoir the other way. However, how much work would it really be for the manufacturers to ceramic coat the header pipes from the factory, it's not like finish is an issue as standard stainless pipes discolour. it would just be a really nice touch and make owners lives a bit easier! especially on a 20/23k bike....
my thought with the pic there is that it's not just that it goes past it, but it seems to sit in the balance loop. If there are just pipes near it, there will be enough air to cool it. Wrap it round, and you crate a jacket of hot air.
just looked at the pics of the engine - I assume they are genuine? It's a very deep sump and the intake gubbins are right on top - that's going to make a tall engine isn't it?
It's a lot shorter than the twin engines thankfully. Also I doubt the height is an issue as there are now 2 cylinders per bank instead of one so they will be less tall than the previous 600cc/650cc per cylinder engines.
The Desmosedici Stradale will be equipped with the new Ducati Panigale V4 which will be presented on 5 November at 9pm CET at the Ducati World Premiere 2018 in live streaming on all Ducati channels.
An R version with a displacement of less than 1000 cc - which revs higher and is intended more for track use - is currently at the advanced development stage. This will provide the foundation for the homologated version that competes in the Superbike championship, where this engine will be used starting in 2019 (one year on from the launch of the respective road version, as per the Ducati tradition).
Yip - yes the proximity of the rear bank does warm the shock up on mine a fair bit. Although having said that ive never had an issue of any sort with heat. Having said that racers do talk of shock fade..im presuming due to the heat partly...back on topic a v4 panigale is the perfect marriage of engine and styling....id love one but the rsv4 will take some beating...
It's still fugly! I cannot believe the design department dropped the ball on this one. I'm hoping/guessing this is a ruse and the bodywork is not what will end up on the finished bike. Ducati are not known for security quite this lax, so it's almost as if they want you to see "it".
So do some of the ugly birds I banged when I was younger but I wouldn't want to been seen in public with any of them.
Still no rear hugger though. Shock looks close to the exhaust loop so wonder how long before the heat affects the oil/seal? Looks like a Gubellini paddock stand which would be right for the factory.
