No idea. Engine details are scant at the moment, so at best any statements you read are purely speculative.
That engine seems so much towards the rear, good for rear grip...guess 90 L configuration doesn't allow to much play in positioning the engine...hope they come up with some sort of ailerons to keep the front down or some double skinned fairings. Like the GP bike has.
All will be revealed at EICMA in November. Until then we all have to rely on spy shots or teaser videos. It's the norm for a new bike launch these days.
Im not entirely convinced the clip is the new v4, but its getting a stern thumbsup from a lot of publications..... Maybe Ducati were caught testing with their pants down, who knows. I doubt it. Re engine config its a different firing order rumoured to conventional v4's (?).
lol, thanks, was wondering where the week went. Missed it completely. Does sound good though even if the post is a bit late. lol
OK after the barrage of video link posts showing the "V4", which even MCN seemed to have been duped by, I can only repeat that this is NOT a prototype circulating the track. This was a well attended MotoGP test at Misano three weeks ago. The official unveiling of the engine at least, is on Sep 7th, as shown below. We at least have a potential name for the new model.....Desmosedici Stradale, though that just translates as road-going/road-based desmosedici, so not convinced.
"While all three test mules spied so far have featured the single-sided swingarm we’ve come to expect on Ducati’s flagship (ever since the massive 1098 climb-down in a post-999 world)– there’s a chance the R will boast a twin-spar it"
Not a bad photoshop, but a photoshop all the same. Big giveaway is near the exhaust and the fairing by the rear brake pedal for example. There is also no visible join between the nose fairing and the upper side panel, making this all "one-piece" which is highly unlikely. If on the other hand this IS close to what the V4 may look like then it's frankly hideous.
I really hope they stop all this SSSA nonsense (that Honda 'invented') with the V4 and fit a proper swingarm. They design is so good that none of the other manufacturers use it, including the Ducati GP bikes. Form over function all day long, it's a joke and doesn't make a bike 'a real Ducati'.
