Would someone please explain how and when this valve is triggered and what a Ducee is and where it can be acquired? T.I.A.
Mine was found to be faulty during its last service, 1200 enduro 17 plate 8400 ish miles. I was told it would be replaced under warranty and it's now booked in to get done. No problems or shouting involved
Yes I agree, just get rid of the bloody thing one way or another, it saves on wasting a day taking the bike back and forwards to the dealer for a part that serves no useful purpose.
magnus a link to a DucEE https://www.ebay.com/itm/Servo-Exha...anigale-Vizi-tec-10-yr-warranty-/282515290980 The valve is just a device to conform to current legislation regarding motorcycle exhaust function. It's there just to pass Euro laws.
Sometimes if you disconnect the cables from the flapper valve i might be wrong in saying this but i think some bikes look for the resistance on the cables otherwise they'll throw an error...my rsv4 was a simple disconnect til i got the ecu reflashed but, my z1000 threw an error when the cables were removed. A day on the dyno sorted that out though
If you just disconnect the servo motor it will show a error is the engine management light stays on if you disconnect the servo wiring from the harness wire the valve open plug a DUC-EE servo eliminater into harness the error will disappear There's a post showing how to fit cheap spring over the operating cable stops the valve from closing I used the DUC-EE method
You can also disconnect the cable at the flapper. Purchase a spring at the hardware store and put spring between the cable support and bung on end of cable. This add resistance and no need for a duc ee.
Some of you may know this but I've never read about this anywhere. DYK that you can actually see the exhaust valve without removing whatsoever if you're looking through the OEM Pikes Peak Termi exhaust? You can tell right away if it's open or shut.
I had a problem with this on my 2010 MTS and ACF’d it. Had two more bikes since and just sprayed the mechanism under the exhaust cover with ACF as soon as I got them and never had a problem. Ride it in all weathers and makes no difference
You can also see with the stock exhaust on a dvt. With bike off just activate dash and look thru the tailpipe. It cycles valve no need to start.
