Don't worry about the pedestrians? At least they'll leap outta your way ;-) Keep the baffles out and your earplugs in. You actually get used to it....on the proviso you keep the earlpugs in. Trust me. Enjoy the overrun. It's sublime.
Tiring? Well I'm 1600klms into a 3500klms road trip here in Australia and with earplugs in no issues at all. Barely hear the buggers unless under, um, load Those on the outside though...
