  1. Im not going to be too popular with the neighbours!

  2. I've not been for years - I leave for work at 0500, a Termi at that time seems fairly loud Apparently.

  3. Purely out of curiosity, I took my standard silencer off, and stuck on a few bits of pipe I had kicking around the garage. First an Akra pipe which was off my KTM superduke R - this was a couple of millimetres too big so it's drooping in the pics, and too wide so it would foul the tyre.

Then an old Titanium pipe from a T595 Triumph, which I reckon looks ok if a little long.

The link pipe from the Triumph job also fitted, and by itself looks a touch like a MotoGP end pipe. It also gave me a chance to ride the bike in that configuration, which just sounded just a tiny bit louder (as you'd expect with the cat still in place).

Back home I dug out my Radio shack decibel meter and did a quick ACU style measurement (at 0.5 mtr at a 45 degree angle but at tickover rather than at whatever the mean piston speed spec they use) - surprisingly the standard end pipe was the loudest 103 db. This rose to 107 db at 3000 rpm. The unsilenced stubby came in at 101 db and 104 db. They probably would have been quieter out in the open rather than in my garage.
Personally I'm drawn to the Leo Vinci pipe and decat, but might just try that old Titanium pipe on it...

  4. 107db? That's seriously loud. Especially for a standard pipe. With my calibrated ears, I reckon the standard pipe is closer to 90 db than 100.

107 would fail most track day noise tests, even on noisy days.

  5. A 747 with Rollers is rated at 120dB..keep up the fine work, we'll get there yet :)

  6. A 744 with RB 211's on it at full chat is somewhat louder than any Multi! My hearing testifies to that as does too many years flying turboprops too...

Jet aircraft are much quieter now, but 120db at close proximity is far too quiet. They're probably closer to 140-150db. An old unhushkitted 737-200 is more like 165-170db close up. Now that is painful. No 1200cc bike is ever going to get close, they just can move enough air!

  7. Has anyone coupled the Akrapovic Can to the LV Decat?

I'm undecided which way to go, can't afford and don't like the look of the full Termi or even the QD

I am torn between LV decat and LV end Can and LV decat with Akrapovic end can hmmmm

    Decisions decisions

  8. Anyone know if Qat D has a UK distributor. Google searches all seem to direct me to Bellisimo moto in the States.
