Exhausts......

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Dawg, Aug 22, 2012.

  1. AndyW. That sounds like just what I'm after.

I have come to the conclusion that I will need a full system. The question is which one. I have done my research over the weekend and I guess it will have to be either the Termi or the QD I do think the QD looks very nice but it seems that it is priced very near to the Termi and with that, clearly you also get the ECU, filter and presumably no hassle from Ducati if there is a warranty issue?

Seeing one in the flesh so to speak will help a lot.

I'm not far away, near Ilminster, so if that's ok, I'll PM you sometime and take you up on that chat.

  2. Email me and I'll send you my contact info ;-)

  3. Well, that's the million dollar question! From our conversation? Yes. He said he would, and thanked me for my input. Will he actually? Well.... I guess we shall see!

If he is smart, he will. It is a tiny modification, that will take a few minutes to implement, and will moved a major annoyance from what is an excellent product.

For anyone with a centre stand, it is annoying. The exhaust is brilliant, but it's bloody annoying....as I'm sure you would agree.

Would I recommend it? If you have no centre stand? Absolutely. If you DO have a centre stand, buy it with the knowledge that you will have to make a modification ....unless they have modified it first.

It isn't a great deal of work, but you'd have to be able to do it, or get the dealer (or someone) to do it for you.

So yes, I hope he does. He should. It's a premium product, and it should just "work".

Having said that, the mechanic was telling what a pain the full Termi is to fit....it doesn't fit easily apparently...so he reckoned anyway...and he was impressed with the QD.

    Time will tell.

He did give me a free set of CATS though...I'll probably never use them, but you never know...could be useful if the noise police come calling! ;-) Or at a quiet track day....

  4. Well, not trying to throw a spanner in the works, but.... You won't pay full price for the QD... Haggle...a lot. ;-)

But, you are spot on...it's subjective...Andy will agree with that one! ;-) I would definitely try to see/hear before you buy. I took a massive punt on the QD because I loved the look....you can listen to YouTube videos, but it isn't the same....

Air filter? Not expensive, and simple to fit. I did it myself. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can!

ECU? Yes, but it is just a different mapping...and by all accounts it is too rich....I stand to be corrected, but Andy, did you refuse to have yours updated with the "newer" map?

The "richness" was meant to stop the rear number plate being melted! Seriously... So, uhm, yes, blow a whole load of fuel onto it...that'll cool it! Ahh, ok... ;-)

Anyway, opinion... Try it, see it, hear it, decide. ;-)

For me? I started with a Mivv decat + BR baffle (not as bad as everyone makes out, especially not the Mark 1 baffle) + BMC filter + Fatducs. Pretty good actually.

Then I went to the QD + BMC + Fatducs. Lovely....really lovely.

Next step? If I really really wanted to, I could pop over to Bristol to see Chris at CJS, and have the whole thing tuned properly. Will I? I don't know...the result will be fabulous, but it is another £500+ ..... Decisions decisions.

Bottome line? Termi or QD? Either ...you won't go wrong!

  5. If you want better running with no fuelling issues then I would think the Termi is your answer. I cannot comment on any other systems because I have not tried any other systems. Also as already mentioned the Termi will not give any issues with your warrenty which for me at least is a very good reason. As for looks etc, well we are all individual and wouldn't the world be a boring place if we all had the same tast etc. If I were you I would barter to get the Termi fitted in with the price, I got mine fitted FOC. As for problems with fitting etc, all I can say is I cannot see how one could be much more difficult to fit than another, of course I may be wrong as they fitted mine for me. In my opinion I doubt you will be disappointed with the music the Termi makes also you do not need to do any strange bodge etc with cables or whatever. I hope this helps.
    Chris.

  6. Well there's the rub....with the QD you get better running and you don't have to faff with the exhaust cable either. And it's debatable that the Termi ECU map gives "better" running. Plenty of people have said it doesn't, it uses more fuel, and there is the issue with the melting number plate and indicator housing.

I didn't fit the QD either, the mechanic did. And he was the one making the count about fitment. He has fitted both, and said the QD was better Of course, if you get the garage to fit it, it doesn't really matter! ;-)

As I say, go for the one you like best.

Warranty? My dealer has said there is no problem there, so I'm not expecting any issues.

  7. Andy, I had planned to take you up on this kind offer this weekend, but as with all the best laid plans, that has all gone to ratshite........

Hopefully ill get to see that Termi of yours sometime though.

I popped into Riders today and spent a great afternoon on Exmoor, great roads and almost empty except for my mate on his 1050 sprint, somewhere behind. If you fancy a thrash across the moor sometime, let me know.:upyeah:

  8. You should have come along yesterday......10 MTS1200's: 2 x full Termi, 2 x MIVV Suono, 1 x MIVV GP Carbon, 1 (or was it 2?) x full QD 2-1-2....and a couple stock :)

  9. Yes, you are right, that would have been ideal. next time maybe...

  10. OK which one sounded the best ? I know this is subjective but an opinion please.
