  2. What I do now is jack it up and put stands under the pegs with weight on the rear, if you are going to do this a lot get a scissor stand with the built in wheel clamps.

I have a bottle Jack that I have used in the past. But I prefer a rod thru between pipes and casings normally find a spot and then axle stands to take the weight of it should get knocked. Like this, in case the stand fails.

  10. Tell us more, of this mystical support bracket....

  11. It's the bracket designed for each bike model that bolts in place on the frame. The lift then locates in the bracket. Can't photograph it as the bike is a few miles away. The constand website could probably explain better.

  12. All the info and vids I’ve seen suggest the panigale need either lower fairing removed or trimmed. Any change of a pic with it fitted so we can see how yours differs?

  13. Will do when I next see it

  14. There are two types of centre lift stands, or so it seems:

One type is the likes of BikeTec or Constands. These stands come with a fitting kit that you bolt to the bike (see first YouTube link for a walkthrough fitting) The supplied stand lugs locate on the fitting kit, once installed.

I recently purchased the BikeTec version and after 10 mins sussing it out in the shed, I immediately sent it back!! The reason being is that you are required to remove the OEM bolt that connects the shock to the small section of frame and replace it with a cheap nasty looking bolt with a lug that projects out around 40mm, right where your shins are. You also need to disconnect the front shock mount bracket, fit spacers and a supplied bracket and then fit the supplied, longer, bolts thro’ both. Again (on the BikeTec version) the fixing kit was very cheap and nasty looking and there was no way I would trust it to A) lift the bike safely B) Take the stresses of spirited riding. The supplied front bracket also fouled on the shock (admittedly, my shock is not standard and it may have cleared a standard item) The Constands kit is likely better made than the Chinese copies. However, having to fit the lug by your shins is a deal breaker for me.

    Link to Constands fitting walkthrough:

The other type of central lift stand is made by the likes of BikeTower (another German maker) or 1Jac (Beutiful British company!) The stands lugs locate in the existing holes in the engine/shock mount. The lower faring has to be either removed or trimmed to make room for the bottom lug to locate into.

    Link to Bike Tower fitting:

You can see where the fairing has been trimmed.

I have plumped for a second hand 1Jac unit (cost decision) However, worth noting that 1Jac are currently relocating and are not currently able to facilitate any orders.

  15. Great post thanks!

  16. Can't you lads just get the mechanic to think it out? I get mine over twice a week in case it develops Italian unreliability!
