it’s funny in a sport that’s supposed to be so precise and so close that someone can have so much go wrong and still end up in the top 10 haha Which is also Russell’s best ever finish
Imagine having to make two extra pit stops and having a puncture in motogp and still finishing in the top 10
That’s a great oxymoron right there.... Anyway, I like speculation. And even people with head up arse ‘facts’ can’t deny yesterday looked rather fishy for Mercedes.
They looked like a bunch of amateurs but to suggest they self sabotage is ridiculous. No matter where you think my head is, a fact is just that. There aren't any alternatives, something is either true or it isn't.
One thing I’d for sure. Williams team will be having a very interesting debrief of Russell as it has shown exactly how sh1t there current car is. Not the first time Mercedes have made big mistakes that have suffered the driver a good points haul. Great race, and personally I have quite enjoyed this season.
Whatever actually happened yesterday, only Mercedes, perhaps just Toto Wolff knows for sure. What we can tell is the following: 1. Mercedes did not choose to deliberately lose the race, that just makes no sense & the knock on effect of that little revelation coming out (which it would) would be very damaging 2. Bottas lost more from the bodged pit stops than GR did as he had to go back out on his old worn tyres 3. GR has shown his worth, he is not a loser here & Mercedes (& everyone else) now knows it. The puncture was unfortunate but GR reported the problem first, he did not box because he was told that the computer says he had a puncture. That is Tin foil hat level conspiracy stuff 4. The Mercedes is clearly a class above & if that means that some find the sport boring, so be it. Red Bull dominated while Vettel was winning 4 titles, Williams had a period of dominance in the 90s, McLaren before that. Lotus blew everyone away when they invented ground force. It’s nothing new. 5. No one would argue that the car isn’t a big part of the deal, no way would LH have won 7 titles in a Haas but it is a driver/machine contest & again always has been. If you find it boring, fair enough. I don’t, I love all the tactics, the strategies & the driving styles as well as who’s behind the Mercedes or the act of the day/month/year. It’s up to everyone else to catch up. What would you suggest? Telling the best F1 team on the grid to slow down a bit?
Well it is certainly true that they couldn’t have a bigger f*ck-up if they had planned it! Oh, what’s that? They DID plan it?
