  1. Since when did this thread turn into the money fucking supermarket advert....

  2. Nothing there that is facebook specific, all to do with using the internet as part of a business.

Know your friends? That is good. They will only know the friends that you have chosen to add, or friend requests that you have accepted, and won't even know the ones that you have unfriended. Note the use of the word "you" in there, no one else can put your information in, and they cannot suck information out of your computer.

  3. As an example of where Facebook can be useful, there was a guy breaking a Supersport 939 on the facebook page for that model. There was another chap on the Ducati Supersport 939 forum who needed stuff, but did not use facebook. Once he had been told of the parts on facebook he was interested, but had trouble accessing them. At the moment there is a German on the Facebook 939 page selling a complete, brand new set of white fairings, not accessible to anyone without facebook.
There are many traders who only use faceboook these days.

  4. Naive. They can.

  5. Facebook on the whole is really useful place. Reconnect with old friends. Create new ones with similar interests. Some interesting articles and links. Some of the groups are great. And it’s where many now organise events and ride outs and has helped close a lot of forums as the fan pages are useful for info.

I remember a mate of mine created the Ducati Costa page and was inundated with requested worldwide. It was a great place to interact and have some banter.

Then he sold his Ducati and closed it

  9. In the media at the moment, FB has allowed firms like Netflix to tunnel through the privacy walls in order to read your "Private Messages".

    Classy.

  10. Wow, I wonder why Netflix (which I don't have) would be interested in my message to a young French lady this morning. I was only asking her if her and her mum would like a pumpkin to make soup for Christmas dinner.
Wonder if I should believe the media.
Wonder if I should immediately close my Facebook account and keep the pumpkin before the computer is remotely blown up by Netflix.

  11. Dam :worried:

  12. Your choice. Other choices are available.

Would you prefer to know that firms like Neflix, Microsoft et al have access to everyone's PMs or would you prefer to remain ignorant of that fact? Ignorance is bliss, after all.

Is your position on pumpkins the standard by which all personal communications should be judged? Do you believe that other folks may be discussing matters of greater import and interest than your, frankly dull, pumpkin tale?

It's ok. I know you are disturbed at the thought that your personal conversations can be read by large corporations and that your way of dealing with your discomfort is to disparage the post that made you aware of the issue. This is normal, head-in-the-sand human behaviour and no one will judge you for it.

You will be fine. You will never have a private conversation that anyone else would be interested in reading so relax.

    Carry on.

  13. Access to PM's, impossible :bucktooth:..................................:eyes:

  15. Want to report instances of blasphemy in Indonesia?

Google has an app for that.

Want to insure that only the right sort of results are returned by an internet search in China?

Google has an app for that.

Still, big tech are our friends. Nothing to see here Cambridge Analytica

  17. The only private information of mine that they are going to get is what I put on the web, nothing to worry about.
Best bit is that Netflix is going to have to employ about 200 million people to read through all the messages that are posted in the US let alone the rest of the world, hope they enjoy reading the chatter between me and my sister and niece in the UK, my mate in Ireland, relatives in Germany etc.

  18. Dude, you're safe. Literally no one wants to know about your sister, etc. I've only just heard about her and I'm already bored.

Unless she's a Muslim and considering leaving Islam? Might be worth reading your messages in that case. PM me with details.

  19. It is quite funny to see intelligent people become afraid of a computer program that they have complete control of what they divulge to, thinking that some company has a huge interest in their mundane everyday life.
Netflix is not the police and as long as you are not a cyber criminal then what is there to be afraid of?
Similar to people who cover their number plates on bike pictures that they put on the web, then take their bikes out on the road with the number plate displayed for all to see. Now that is funny.
