As others have said, it's not fakery if you aren't trying to pass it off as something it isn't in order to inflate a selling price, as it is already a previous right off with a different frame etc you are not going to hurt its value so do it in whatever colours please you personally, it is your project after all ! Look forward to seeing some pictures of your progress.
Well here's what we went for, a non oem but quite good looking mildly metallic grey, matched across engine outers, swingarm and fork bottoms. Ali (included mono subframe) was vapour blasted and clear cerakoted.
Do what makes you happy. I have a Ducati 888 Strada that has all of the original parts, but currently now has the look of a Ducati 888 SP5 (Single rear seat done on Boxing day) and I also have a set of fairings being fettled to emulate the 1993 NW200 winning Ducati 888 of one Carl Fogarty. Mine has 3 personalities now and I get to choose which one it is.
Looking nice. Why does the rear subframe crossmember have two lines adjacent to the welds? Hoping they aren't cracks, but wear marks shown up by the painting.
These are photos from Factory Coatings where the work was done - I'm yet to collect but those lines drew my attention too. Hopefully all will be fine when I see them in person.
I'd get a close-up picture of those (what look like cracks to me) before collecting. Also ask the coater what they think. RH definitely looks crack-like. Can't be sure about the LH one.
