Favourite comedian?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by El Toro, Apr 1, 2013.

  1. Dave Chapelle or maybe Eddie Griffin. I loved Dave Chapelle's 'Chapelle Show' series but 'Eddie Griffin's Dysfunctional Family' was a great new presentation of the stand up format and some of his relatives were unreal.

  2. Watched the Micky Flannagan "Out Out" tour the other day. Very funny. Lee Evans is funny too.

  3. Micky Flanagan for me, laugh so much it hurts

  4. franky howerd

    classic

  5. Micky for me as well because he reminds me of people back home in my youth or a couple of my ex bfs !!!!

Now to really get it you have to be a Londoner ...
Men walking around in pants doing nothing just " walking around!!!"

Going out ... Or going out out !!!
    That's true!!!!!
We used to say that :)

I went out with a lad from East London for over a year :)
    Funny as ....
    Also some family ..

All our proper souf lot sadly no more :(
I do love proper Londoners :)

My family all want to be posh now :(

I love cheeky London boys :) but not ones who think they are above it all .. Embrace it !!!!

Also the Spain thing :) cause we had a bar out there and it was like little London in the Costa Del Crime :)

  6. And yes if your proper London you all knew the Krays!!!!!

( makes me laugh .., cause 99% didn't but why do people always come out with it even if your South , East or North ... I don't know about West .

" when my Dad was young and he knew the Krays " ( no he didn't !!!!!!)
It will always come up ;)
    Strange.

  17. Any comedy is good comedy, and there are very few that I don't like, and plenty that I do.

Billy Connolly has to be the best - and as Archer said it's not about the punchlines but the stories he tells.
Another favourite of mine is the American Robert Schimmel; he's very much an American version of Billy Connolly and tells some cracking stories - go YouTube him! I could listen to his "Unprotected" album any time and it will have me crying with laughter, much like "Billy and Albert".

My one issue with a lot of these guys though is that the same jokes creep into their acts time and time again, and that frustrates me as you know it's a "set", and sometimes the same set, every time you see them. Maybe that's being unfair to younger/newer comedians, but it turns some genuinely funny jokes into disappointing viewing.

There are very few that I can't stand but Milton Jones is one. I saw him live back in the early nineties and he's still doing the same jokes and delivery today, twenty years later.

  18. Best live comedian I have ever seen - definitely Al Murray's Pub Landlord. Have seen him twice, and have never laughed so much in my life !

  19. Jim Davidson
