  5. You Dirty Rat became one of the most famous film quotes of James Cagney without a doubt.The amazing thing is he never actually said it! Everyone who impersonated Cagney would invariably say “ You Dirty Rat.”

  10. I think I'm correct in saying that the actor who played the sergeant was initially brought on board as an advisor for the role and when they realised he was as good as that they put him in the role. For which, again I think I'm correct in saying, he won an Oscar.

  11. Golden Globe rather than Oscar.
    He was brought into FMJ as an advisor but his performance was so good that Kubrick gave him the role instead. He had acted before that though.

  12. The actor given the role originally was moved over in favour of R Lee Emery, he became the door gunner in the Huey scene.

    I just woke up, at 04.40, in the armchair, and that's the first intelligible thing I thought! Coincidentally I was bursting for a wee, not that I call it 'Woger'.
