Go And Get Your Psa Checked
On Friday morning last week I was diagnosed with prostate cancer- this scene from Blackadder kept coming to mind.
I went to Spain in May for 5 days on track. While there I had dinner with a group of men, also in their 50’s, some of whom had survived prostate cancer. They convinced me to get tested. My local doctor’s medical practice were reluctant at first as I had no symptoms, but we did the test and then an MRI, DRE and finally a surgical biopsy.
If you or someone you love is in their 50’s and he has not been tested then share this with them. I too made a note in my diary, it does simply say “bugger” but I’m so glad I know now and that my surgery is now being scheduled.
Together we can beat cancer.

V4 Streetstrada, Panistrada, Stradagale Or Stradafigher?
The Multistrada V4RS is again "challenging" the motorcycling public as to what sort of bike "classification" is to be applied. I have a deposit down on one to replace my 2019 1260S but have never ridden a V4 Panigale. I have ridden a Street Fighter V4 (briefly) and found it to be a "hoot" but I don't do "naked" anymore.
At 75 years "young" ( it's all relative, eh?), there is no way I will be able to ride the V4RS to it's potential and I find my longer distance travels to be a bit curtailed just do to physical limitations.
There is little to no logic in this purchase but I see no reason to not enjoy my remaining years doing things I love even if not as often as I used to do so or would like to do so.
Am I being selfish? Maybe but as has been pointed out numerous times. " You don't get old riding hard. You get old by hardly riding".
Thoughts anyone? -
For Sale 748r Sold.
Moving on my well cared for and very clean full Ohlins 2001 748r. If you are looking for an absolute concourse bike…..move on by. Having said that, she’s been in my possession since 2018 and has clearly been cherished and lovingly looked after by her previous owners one of which is a senior member of this forum. The bike had her latest belt service late last year. She’s covered just over 12.5k miles. Servicing has been by main dealer and independent over the years but she’s been well cared for with paperwork to cover the works. She’s currently fitted with plenty of carbon and aftermarket toys but also comes with all original parts. She has an aftermarket Ohlins damper. I replaced her battery in December and she’s currently sorned and in winter storage.
£8500. Based in Norfolk

A New, Historic Chapter Opens For Ducati: The Red From Borgo Panigale Enters Motocross
The Bologna based manufacturer has been working for two years on a prototype that will make its debut next season in the Italian Motocross Championship, with the aim of validating the technical solutions made on the bike on the track. This strategy confirms the approach that distinguishes Ducati in the development of its sportiest and most high-performance models, i.e. starting from racing competition and then creating series products capable of exceptional performance for the delight of its enthusiasts.
This is a multi-year project that will see the creation of a complete range of off-road engines and motorcycles. The models will gradually become part of a family of knobby motorcycles branded Ducati, starting with motocross.
The Bologna-based company has signed an agreement with nine-time Motocross World Champion Antonio Cairoli as a high-performance test rider for the new project and, thanks to his talent, speed and experience, he will give important input for the development... -
Real World Crash Tested Gear Review
I recently had a crash at c100mph at Silverstone. My gear undoubtedly saved my life but I still suffered a huge amount of injuries. I have decided not to go into massive detail about them but the bike landed on top of me, causing 19 fractures and dislocation plus internal injuries to several critical organs. I was very lucky to survive (thanks to Silverstone Medical team, The Air Ambulance Service and Coventry Critical Injuries Unit amongst others).
Follows pictures of my protective gear after the event plus my thoughts on how it performed.
Please feel free to add your own reviews of any gear you have the misfortune to use in anger. It may help others decide upon an appropriate level of protection aligned to their riding environment.
HELMET
X-LITE 803 ULTRA CARBON
This is the second of these I have owned and I am a fan. The first I "tested" at Snetterton on a gentle 45 mph lowside. I immediately replaced it with a new one.
As you can see, this helmet took a fair slide. The... -
Hi From Bedfordshire

Norfolk Oldie Newbie
Hi All, Just a quick intro during my work lunch break! Just joined your group after an impulse purchase of an older 1993 888 Strada. My Last Ducati was a 900ss of the same year of which I have good memories
It needs a little TLC as shortly after purchasing it started running on one cylinder, - all electrical connections look suspect and slightly oxidised, so will clean them up and use dielectric/silicon grease.
Taking off the bodywork also revealed a crack in the belly pan area of the fairing lower, so a fibreglass patch on the inside is curing as I write this. I will 'invisibleise' this with a little rosso red
A general service is also planed - replacing a front rocker cover gasket that has leaked oil onto the oil cooler.
Whish me luck and see you out there!
Despite all the above I'm pleased with the bike. Here are some pics -

Sincere Request - Please Help
Hi.
On September 5th I was thrown from my Panigale at around 100mph on a track day at Silverstone.
I suffered life threatening injuries (numerous fractures and internal organ injuries) and was given 11 units of blood and plasma (2 at Silverstone, the balance at Coventry Serious Trauma Unit). The Doctors told my wife and children that I may not pull through.
I owe my life to so many but I want to ask your help in supporting The Air Ambulance Service, who airlifted me from Silverstone to Coventry. They were landed at Silverstone within 20 minutes of getting the call from the Medical Centre and, as you no doubt know, exist solely through public donations.
The Air Ambulance Service cover Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rultand. If you do trackdays, that's Silverstone, Donington and Mallory and, if you don't do trackdays, that's a massive road network. They have also been called to attend Cadwell. They also cover the UK for the Children's Air... -

New Owner Old Bike!
Hi,
New on the forum but have been following a while. Dropped myself in the deep end with a 2005 999, picking it up next week locally to me after it's been MOT'd. It's a European import from circa 10+ years ago, last owner for 5 years but has done minimal mileage, overall fairly clean. It has Ohlins rear, single seat plus pillion and Termignoni pipes with belts recently done.... otherwise I know little else about the bike! Wish me luck -
1260 Multistrada......now I Get It!
I've had my Multi for just over a year and in that time I've done a few tweeks and mostly ridden my local routes on weekends.
I'd basically treated the Multi like a comfy sport bike. A role it fulfills surprisingly well. I'd gained a repsect for the bike, and really enjoyed it on a Thruxton IAM Skills Days too. It hadn't set my pants on fire so to speak.
This past weekend I headed off to Wales for a few days away with my other half and friends. The bike was pretty loaded up so my girly didn't have to carry any luggage (yes, I am a hero). To be fair, she was on her KTM RC8R. A bike I have also toured on and whilst good, the extra luggage definately impacts the handling as you've expect on a superbike. It's not as easy to "hoon" about on even with manually dialled in preload etc.
It was a 4.5 hour run to the accomodation (Lake Vyrnwy Hotel which I absolutely recommend!) and back again. We packed in a decent 4 - 5 hours or so each day in the saddle (thank... -

999 999 Build/rs Swingarm
Wotcha I don’t post here often but some of you will know me as the admin of the 999/749 owners group and be familiar with this bike.
I’ve been building (some would say f**n up) this bike over a period of 6 years now and only recently after acquiring the unicorn full titanium 749RS Akra system have I gone full send on the homage to the RS replica route.
It leads me to the next thing I want to upgrade. The swingarm! As lovely as the stock 2nd gen swinger is, I love the look of the RS/F, Pieribon, Bursi versions.
So what do people know about them? Share any pics or experiences with fitting them. Is there anything available? Perhaps you have something gathering dust on a shelf somewhere that would make my year .
Ha I can wish right?
