Project 999
Last Thursday I collected my latest project from a fellow forum member.
A 2005 MkII Ducati 999. Believed to be a Biposto ‘S’ Variant.
I’ve been looking for a project 999 for ages, and had given up, but isn’t that always the way.
It was good to meet you @matapaca, I’m really pleased with it.
It joined my M1000 and 1000SS/900SL in my workshop, and the various loose parts have been stored.
It started and ticked over OK when I collected it, but I won’t be starting it again until I change the belts, Oil and filters.
The overall aim is to produce a bike I can enjoy rebuilding, tinkering with, and using on the road.
I don’t want a spotless, perfect cosmetically bike that I’m afraid to use, but it must be mechanically as good as I can get it.
Importantly it’s my first ‘modern generation’ Ducati with twin cams, water cooling etc, so I’m going to learn a lot.
For example I can change the cambelts on my 2-valve aircooled bikes easily in under an hour, but haven’t done a 4 valve twin Cam... -
For Sale Ducati 959 Panigale Corse
Hi there,
Time to sell my Ducati 959 Panigale Corse. It's a special bike that always gets admiring attention from bikers and non-bikers as it looks and sounds amazing. Note there's a link to a full album of current photos below, but here's a teaser to make you weak at the knees...
The Corse an official Ducati model based on the 959, but including with some very desirable spec upgrades:
A Superleggera-style matte paint scheme
Ohlins suspension front and rear (an upgrade from the regular 959 Showa suspension)
Ohlins steering damper (an upgrade from the regular 959 Sachs steering damper)
Akrapovic titanium side exhaust, though this bike is further upgraded with the eye-wateringly expensive Akrapovic underbelly exhaust slip ons as nature intended. The side exhausts fitted to UK 959s just look wrong, so the underbelly exhausts are a must have. The original Akrapovic titanium side exhausts are included in the sale, if the bike is just too pretty for you as is

New Member Not Riding On A Fabulous Day
Hi fellow Ducatistis,
From what I've seen so far, if you see a red 999 bip in Gloucestershire, it's mine! Having said that, when I rode a 180 Jota 30 years ago, I never saw another on the road. Or the 750 Bonneville I wrote off 16 years back.
So, 16 years ago I damaged my hand. I thought my riding days were over - in the UK climate anyway. Then when I began to miss it so much I didn't care about the hand, I wasn't at a location where I could keep a bike (Tudor cottage). Now I've moved and about 3 months ago bought the Duke. Now, after nearly 3000 miles, the 999 is an extension of me, and it is just beautiful!
May be a quirk, but the Jota was a more comfortable riding position - maybe the lack of a fairing. At 5'8" I could only touch the ground on tiptoe. To go by the reviews from taller riders, it was uncompromisingly uncomfortable to ride, while by some outlandish confluence I was apparently just the right size for it once it was rolling!
On the other hand the seat on the 999 is... -

Introducing Myself!
Hi there,
I will no doubt be scouting about the forum and asking all the usual silly questions that a newbie owner has for this era of Ducati so thought I'd introduce myself and my bike first!
I finally became an owner of one of these bikes earlier this month when I finally I got my hands on a late model 851. I first fell in love with these bikes back at the time these bikes were current as my father had a 94 888 Strada which he kept until the early 2000s (reg'd as B88 SEC if anyone on here? That number came off of my GSXR400 that I had at the time - suited his bike more than mine!). I wish I had bought his back then but hey ho, will add to the long list of shoulda/coulda/woulda have's.
Here she is:
Thanks in advance,

748 I Got One… Nothing Like I Was After !
Well some may have seen that I was on the hunt for a super low miles low owner 100% OEM bike to sit and stare at. Followed a few leads on a few 996’s with sub 5k on them but lost out on a couple due to time constraints. Then I thought about what I really wanted, and if I wanted another garage queen to park next to my 1991 GSXR Slingshot. In the end I settled on buying one with more miles and something I would actually use . I looked at a couple of red 748S’s and a 996 S, all turning out to be dog rough. The bike I bought had been on my radar for a while but not as a perspective candidate to actually own, it was so far from what I was after it couldn’t be further from it. After seeing the last 996 and leaving empty handed again, I decided to pop to the shop with this bike “just to have a look”. Well that turned out to be an expensive morning, not only did I put a deposit down on the 748 , but the wife took a shining to the almost brand new CB500 FA next too it. A deal was done and... -

For Sale Ducati 900ss - 1994
Up for sale is my 1994 900ss which has covered around 35k miles and taking into consideration that this is now over 27 years old I would say in very good (but not excellent) condition - just not using it so it needs to go to a good home - too many bikes not enough time.
The bike has been off the road for about two years and I have just spent some time recommissioning it, the fuel pump in the tank had failed and has been replaced, recent oil and filter change and it has a new battery. The bike runs ok although a little rough, I think that the carbs need a proper service which is somewhat beyond me. Bodywork is again ok but has one or two issues which I have tried to show in the photos the frame and engine also show signs of age but nothing out of the normal for it's age.
I have a whole file full of history for the bike right back to when it was new, it also comes with a set of performance pipes which I have never bothered fitting as I preferred the original look of the bike.

999 Out At Last.!
Finally managed to get the 999 out this weekend. Lots of work done (still more to do of course) and waiting for DVLA, but we'll worth it, just a short ride, still waiting for new tyres but couldn't miss an early Sunday am empty road opportunity. -
Bitter Sweet
Hi All,
Having had various bikes over the years, I had never managed to get all my ducks in line to scratch the Ducati itch. This changed this week when I had the incredible good fortune to win a Panigale V4 SP - this is of course the sweetest feeling.
With the good news there is a kicker and this is, predictably, the insurance. I sold all my other bikes a couple of years ago (what a mistake that was) and have been contemplating getting something again but have no recent insurance history. Looks like I will have a spectacular piece of garage art while I buy something more reasonable to get some current insurance history - the bitter, although not that bitter really.
Overall though, I can’t really complain about having my dream bike waiting for me. Expecting delivery sometime next week so no pics with bins until then -
Hello New V4 Owner
Hi all would just like to introduce myself to the group my names Harms I’m a 38 year old firefighter and personal trainer for the deaf in West London near Heathrow. I’ve recently bought my dream a Panigale V4 I’ve had 2 Gixxers an R1 Big Bang and an Aprilia Rsv. I’m loving the Ducati and already need some advice on rear sets so I’ll be one of those annoying newbies that’ll be asking a million questions which probably have already been answered -
V4 1,500 Miles So Far
V4S - 1,500 miles so far
Took delivery of my 5th Mutley, a V4S 8 weeks ago and have had the 1st service and some extras fitted that weren’t ready on the pick-up date. Previous Multi was a 1260S and I wouldn’t order a V4 until I could test ride one (No test rides due to COVID etc.), the test ride was to see how it felt in terms of handling with the 19” front and it felt good to me!
The bike is an S model with the Travel and Radar pack fitted plus Spotlights, Top Box, oil cooler guard, Engine guard plate (keeps the lower half of the engine cleaner) and the Ducati Hand guards (the metal ones that better protect the levers / guards - (I wasn’t sure if the Bark-Busters from the 1260 would fit). I had the silver side panels swapped for red ones and Road 5’s fitted – (I hate dual purpose tyres!). I also have the raised Heated Comfort seat now as well and a Sat Nav mount.
So, what is it like? It is different from the 1260, the biggest difference for me is using the gearbox more than the... -
I Won A 899. Sort Of!
Hi all,
I recently won a brand new triumph tiger 900 GT in one of those lottery things (amazingly not all of them are scams!). I promptly sold it to buy a 2014 899 to pair with my 2020 Super Duke GT.
It’s only my third ever bike and I have only ridden it for an hour but loved it. I’ve been sitting in my garage staring at it thinking how lucky I am to have a gorgeous FREE Ducati! -
New 899 Owner (former Macca And Andy800 Bike)
Hi guys,
New to the forum after purchasing an 899. Long story short, I wanted an R32 GTR but couldn't find one for my budget so decided to move onto the next bucket item on the list. Luckily Ducati Nottingham put me in contact with Macca and we finally cemented the deal a couple of weeks ago.
Im completely new to sportsbikes after previously riding supermotos. Also working on a BMW R100rs and converting her to a cafe racer style bike. Super excited to ride the 899 even though the ergonomics feel aggressive on the wrist and hands! Hopefully it's just a matter of trying to get used to it.
I've recently installed the Ducati spacers mod to the throttle and it's transformed the bike. I would like to add some more carbon goodies, look at some professional touch up of the paint from the regular stone chips etc but main focus is to try and build my confidence on her. -
888 Open Air Box Induction Roar
A wonderful ride out a couple of weeks back with @KevB on his SP4. Got the chance to open her up a bit and she goes over 7k rpm.
Loving the world of the 851s and 888s.
