22 Year Itch!
So today I scratched a 22 year itch and being 6ft2, 46 years old and due an imminent fusing of my left wrist, I thought a 748 would be perfect thing to buy .
Found what looks to be a very clean, low mileage. 2 owner, FSH bi-posto with Termis and a couple of carbon bits but otherwise fairly un-molested! Picking it up tonight was very special, riding position was hideous but the noise, smell and sheer joy when I eventually got to some country roads will live with me for a long time! I found people just stare like I did at Donington when I first saw a 916 in the mid 90’s... pulled in for a quick pint in my local and a group of older lads just gawped at it (it was either the bike or they were thinking how the hell did he get on that ).
I’ve got bolts and fixings to sort, loads of bits to polish, I’m going to get stuck in to the pipes where they curve under and up with some elbow grease, it had belts and a service last July, 100 miles ago but I’m going to get it properly checked...Mark - Ducati Bournemouth Apr 22, 2021 748 / 916 / 996 / 998 Read More Views: 3,141 Likes: 32 Replies: 26 -

848 848rs)) Big Bore 1040 Experiment
Hi guys!
I’m Anton from St.Petersburg, Russia.
I’d like to tell about our experience with Big Bore kit (BBk) for D848.
We’re fun of red “neoclassic”)) superbikes from Bologna. Race days, local championships etc… As for many people, like us, one day the limit of RPM, max power and speed, pushed us to look for additional HP.
In the start, it was standard 848 with 112 HPRW, than head porting, cam timing, Ignijet ECU and full Arrow, let’s make us 128HPRW.
Next step we install BBk 1040, head and cams from 1098, SBK wiring harness for 1098r and reached 138 HPRW.
We were a little bit disappointed with the result, as planned a little bit more)) and decided to go on with some new ideas…
For the first, we try to rebuild heads like “R spec”: we designed and made to order special titanium 6 mm valves 34mm and 42mm (the same size as D1098), valve guides and seats were made by ourselves, and we installed cams from D1198, with valve lift 13mm.
Another problem for D848 (and... -
V4 Thoughts After My First Track Outing On The V4
Managed to get the Ducati V4 out at donington for her maiden track day. What a machine!
coming from a 1299 the bike is another level. Prior to the 1299 I had an R1M and while that was an amazing bike and quite an easier bike to go fast on, you feel like a legend on the Ducati V4 so who cares if you are going slower!
@nelly sorted me out the Evo2 software upgrade and despite the air temp only reaching about 9 degrees all day the bike never seemed to get out of shape, power was smooth and progressive and only stepped the rear out once on an exuberant exit out of the foggy S’s trying to get past a slower rider.
The bike wheelies for fun with 15 41 gearing but having got full Mupo suspension from Simon @Sitramoto and Dave ‘Mupo’ Croft, Dave has been helping with the bikes geometry and a 44T sprocket is on route to improve the gearing and geometry.... well that’s the plan.
Mupo CSP30’s and a Factory Evo shock are incredible and I would highly recommend them if anyone was looking for... -
Hello From Seville (spain).
Good afternoon to everybody,
My name is Joaquin and I live in Seville (Spain). I have a 2004 Multistrada 1000 ds with some problems, which I bought it a couple of years ago, I knew that it did not work and due to personal circumstances it has been stored until a few days ago, when I began to repair it. I hope I can drive it soon
I must apologize, in advance, because my English is not very good, but with a little patience I think we will understand each other well.
Here you have a photo of my Multistrada -

Somehow, I Now Own A 748
So, this was a little surprising to me, as I was looking for an RD350LC. Having sold my Yamaha XT500, I was looking to rekindle my youth, but blimey - 2 strokes are now stupid money! Late night browsing, I started looking at 916s, as I fell in love with these when I first saw one at the London Bike Show way back when... Of course, they are also a little on the pricey side, and I couldn't justify the spend, so then settled on the 748. Here she is:
It's a basic 2000 E version, only 2 owners and 11k on the clock. Termi's and 5 spoke wheels, being the only amends from standard. Had the belts changed plus usual service as part of the deal. Only things that really need attention are the front fork slider's anodizing is failing, so need replacing (I'm assuming it wouldn't be possible to polish and recoat - so anyone have a set they want to sell - basic Showas?), and the battery has had a good go at melting the relays:
Other than these, it's really a deep clean for her and then... -

"bin" Away For A While, But I Am Back.
I have 'bin" a member of the forum since 2018 when I had a Scrambler Icon, but it had to go due to my health. had a really bad year last year, heart attack in the middle of the lockdown, blue light to Blackpool and and emergency double bypass! So I turned 60 last week and bought this to keep my heart pumping! -
Ao The Online Electricals Store
Just posting to give the above a glowing recommendation when it comes to customer care and my recent experience during the last 8 months. I'd bought a Hotpoint dishwasher and had not researched that heavily apart from the customer reviews, which made it look as though it was a machine worth buying. Unfortunately it turned out to be a "lemon" and after two visits to try and rectify the constant problems I decided enough was enough today and decided it was time for a replacement machine or even a refund if possible (about 8 months old).
Well I don't know if there has been a change in consumer rights but it was like leaning against an open door, I got Incredible service from AO, problem over and they couldn't have been more helpful (full refund). -
New Year, New Me, New Garage, Well Sort Of....
I’m lucky enough to have a detached double garage but it was in need of some TLC. The concrete floor was starting to break away in places, the walls were covered in dust and the kitchen units were falling apart. Storage wasn’t great and it was all looking a bit sad really.
I finally decided that this year was the year to spruce it up a bit. I wanted to make my garage a functional space as I not only use it to store the bikes in, but I also do all my exercise in there too. I wanted to paint the walls, fit a tiled floor, skirting and have some proper storage options in the form of racking. I had a small but manageable budget and the main reason for renovating the garage was for functionality not glamour!! I’ve seen some owners garages and wow, they are lottery win good!
I’ve spent the last few weekends working on the garage and although not 100% complete (new window and door to be fitted in May) and I’m very happy with the end result.
Here’s how I got on….

New Dress For The Trackbike.....
Following a little off at Cadwell last year I decided to purchase some new fairings for the new year. I was keeping the same design and colours but wanted to make some minor amendments.
I decided to get the wheels (including WOW) painted to match the bike and I had some race decals designed. I gave it all to my local spray man for what seemed like an eternity (was a fit it in as and when jobby) and hay presto it’s all complete.
I’ve had the suspension set to my weight, clad her with new rubber and even installed an AIM solo 2 so I can see how slow I really am!!
I’m also trying a Constands centre lift this year to see if that’s an improvement over the standard paddock stands. It makes sense to me but we’ll see how it goes.
