999 My First 999s
Hi all
Acquired this beauty yesterday from Mid Essex motorcycles. Only done 3k miles. I have a 899 panigale and can’t believe the difference (I know it’s 17 years old) aiming to do about 100-200 miles a year on it -
Thank You To The Forum - Amazing Community
In short, my 1198 caught fire, it’s debatable weather the lithium battery helped that or not. However, some wise forum members (FM) came to my rescue with some great advice and signposted me in the right direction.
Thank you @Exige
The cost of repair might have been back-breaking but one particular FM suggested he could help with some parts. He literally helped me with everything I needed.
Thank you @kev moose
I also put it out there that I needed torque values for the crankshaft nut to reassemble the sprag, again one FM came to my rescue and not only offered advice, but he also sent me his Torque bar and bit. Who, outside a forum like this would do that?
Thank you @Sonic - Malik
And a huge thank you to the man who physically helped me at no gain to himself. He rescued me when the battery ran flat, he organised a garage for me to leave the bike in, he took me home, picked me up, followed me back, sat with me and worked on the bike, came over at the drop of a hat because I’d felt... -
V4 Wet Cement Grey
I don’t see the appeal but as this is the second V4 I’ve seen in this colour, clearly it does for some.

Luvin Tribute To Df Member......@
If I may... I’d just like to pay a luvin tribute to one of our Wonderful DF members..
I don’t want to bang on about it but, in what is allegedly MH week I wished to say a huge thanks to this guy, who without being asked really has respectively stepped forward and offered me help, advice and hope at a difficult time for myself and my family when MH issues have once more, done it’s best to take the better of me leaving the Unwanted issues behind In the form of wreckage..
like so many on here I guess, I’ve never met this member, though truly hope I will one day along with many more of you, so with thanks to this our forum, one that gives us such a great platform to express all things Ducati along with an endless list of posts on all subjects that we can debate at our leisure 24/7, I personally feel lucky to be able to do this amongst virtual friends ( please excuse the term) it brings companionship etc instead of loneliness and isolation which as I’m sure many members on here... -

Modified Superlight Mkv Recommisioning
After being off the road for 3 years (coinciding with the birth of #2) and this Covid business making the thought of traveling on the train and tube less appealing by the minute… I have decided to get her back o the road. Big service, some tidying up jobs and some repairs too.
I have to add I love this bike - its my keeper, others have come and gone - this one will always be there and has become part of my 'Brand' if you catch my drift.
I did an extensive thread on the build on the old Ducatisti site - gone now. -
1098r - New Project
It’s been a while since I sold my old 1098S, I had a project thread on that so I thought I would start one for the new bike.
I’ve always hankered after a 1098R and finally managed to get my hands on one, thanks to Paul (@Mary Hinge ) of this forum, (who’s a top bloke btw!)
The bike was collected from an engine rebuild with new Pistals etc and delivered on Saturday as above but without the carbon wheels or swing arm and the plan is to restore it back to how it left the factory as it was supplied with all original fairings/carbon/tank etc which have been stored from new. -
New Bike!!
Bought this yesterday(MONDAY) pick it up friday or saturday. Full service history, just had a full service before lockdown(£1200) and a years MOT, just over 15000 miles on clock. It has a small ding in the tank that needs sorting(a good haggle point!). Sorry no bins unless you have an opinion on the mini!! -
450ss!!!
Ey up, my 900ss hasn't had much use in the last 5 years. I pull it out of the back of the garage each spring with every intention of a couple of road trips. Ill give it a service and spruce up which always unearths an issue or two. I'll spend a £100 or so, then never use it. I reckon I've spent £300-£400 and ridden 200 miles!
Well, so far this spring is no exception. I was confident I wouldn't have much to do this year but, it was running a bit lumpy on tick over. I pulled the FCRs off and gave them a clean and changed the plugs. I didn't find anything remarkable when I had the carbs apart and I made sure all the adjustments were the same as when I put the bike back together 10 years ago.
Once it was all back in one piece, I thrashed it to its MOT. Still a bit lumpy on tick over but certainly nothing wrong with the way it runs once the throttle is wound out.
Lovely, MOT passed, bike working, here comes summer.
Next day I started a run of night shifts, lovely sunny evening so I... -

I Bought It 20 Years Ago!
Hello everyone! Been lurking on here for a while recently and have also visited now and again over the years. Since I can't get out much on any of my bikes at the moment it seemed an opportune time to actually join the forum.
So, I own one Ducati - 1997 900ss - which I bought in 2000. Bought it as I liked the idea of air cooling, carbs, two valves per cylinder and no engine management to go wrong. It has straight through carbon end cans, other than that it has just been serviced, maintained and used (the silencer mounts were a temporary solution that seems to have become permanent). Unbelievably I have never seen another one on the road since buying it 20 years ago!
I also have a Honda CG125 for going to the shops on in the winter and a slightly tuned up Suzuki SB200, which is pretty nippy for a 200 and good for embarrassing boy racers between traffic lights - the brakes are not so hot right enough.
Anyway, a picture (Possibly, if I have done it right):

999 My 999 Racer
Hi,
Here are some pictures of the current state of my homegrown 999 Racer. I already did a lot of things but there is still some major and many minor changes to be done and bought.
Tuesday will be the first track day this year, I will be heading to the Red Bull Ring here in Austria to find out how good or not she is.
At least I was able to shove a lot of weight off thr bike, she now weighs 165kg without fuel which is quite a success already.

Just sold my 1098R. So I’ve got this for sale now. Think they’re ~£3,200 new... with significant waiting time.

Offer Of Organised Ride - South Of France
Hi there!
In the spirit of "thank goodness we can go out the house again", here in France anyway....
I would like to offer the possibility for anyone passing by my neck of the woods to call in, and I would be happy to organise a day trip in the surrounding countryside.
I have lived here in the South of France 10 years (From Newcastle originally) and have toured all over the Verdon/Luberon & low Alps, and would be happy to share some local knowledge with anyone passing through.
Don't be shy.
Good luck to all.

996 Resto: Hoping To The Give The Old Girl A New Chance In Life...
So bought this, cheap(ish) punt on ebay. MY2000 996. Felt sorry for her as clearly been abused and used as a circus animal, dressed up in the most odd looking kit I’ve ever seen (someone clearly wanted a Fila 999 based on how they’ve painted the wheels..).
Ironically pictured next to the bins which is where I suspect the majority of the outfit will end up! And yup, there are holes in the fairings for crash bungs..
Anyways she started up fine at least (after I charged the battery overnight), ran relatively smoothly so I’m hoping that engine wise it’s not too bad.
My main concern (besides the enormous amount of cleaning) is that I found fluid inside the airbox, looking inside the oil cooler breather pipe I can see a mayonnaise like substance in there, same as through the oil viewing glass which makes me think it’s pissing oil back out through the breather. Once I drop the engine out over the coming weeks I plan on taking it to Luigi Moto to give it the once over, but I’m wondering... -
