I Like What Mv Augusta Have Done...
Apparently in the UK (not sure if this is world wide) MV have increased the warranty period on their bikes for another three months, this includes all bikes still under warranty.
They feel that as there is a lockdown and owners are generally unable to use their bikes it's unfair that a significant part of the warrenty is wasted.
Wonder if Ducati will do the same? -
916 Aladdin’s Cave
Went to see an Aprilia RS 250 at a small specialist dealer north of Auckland (NZ) yesterday. Was a brilliant ride out there and a chance to put some miles on the Tuono Factory I just bought before lockdown.
Dealer has two barns stuffed with exotica - mostly Italian. Took this shot of a Senna next to a 998S Bostrom and 998S Bayliss Rep. Other than various 916 variants he had the most Bimotas I’ve seen in my life in one place. Plus a few classics too. A real Aladdin’s cave of bikes.
Unfortunately the RS 250 wasn’t up to scratch. But might go back to look at some of the other stuff he has. -

851 And 888 Forum Demise > Rebirth ? @mods
I may well be going where angels fear to tread with this, but that has never stopped me before!
It seems that the old 851.888 forum is no more - It has been down for a good few weeks now. Perhaps the owners / mods are still trying to save it, but if not, I think it would be a real shame to lose all of the useful knowledge, expertise and insights that have been posted there over the years.
So, I wanted to wonder out loud, would it be possible to find an agreement for their archive to be incorporated into this section of this forum somehow?
I have no knowledge of how such things work, IP value, advertising, ownership, platform compatibility etc, but often, where there is a will there is a way!
The same thing happened successfully with a couple of Laverda sites with the same aim - to keep the legacy information available and allow the members of the old platform to join the new one and continue to share info. This section is not as busy as once it was, so potentially mutually... -
Indiana Project
I'm currently rescuing an '87 Indiana 650, it was beyond restoration as it was heavily corroded and the chrome plating was partially off the engine casings.
I've attached a before and current status.
I'm looking for advice on a couple of things :-
1. What does anyone think of these
2. What oil quantity should I fit to the forks- they are standard with new seals- I forgot or lost the oil quantity on the way out.
3. Does anyone have a wiring diagram, as the electrics are completely butchered
Thanks

New Wheels
Bought some lightweight forged Marchesini wheels off ebay . Well pleased with them, can't believe how little they way . The front is 3.1kg and the rear 3.4kg . Putting the discs on the front felt like it doubled the weight ! -
Hi From Los Angeles
Hi, I just purchased my first Ducati. A 2012 848 Evo Corse. I have had many bikes over the years starting with a new Ninja 600 in 1985. I can't believe it has taken this long to get my dream bike. The bike I just purchased is in Florida, I bought it sight unseen from a dealer. Every time I go and look at an 848 it sells before I can respond. I will put some pictures up when I get it in a few weeks. July 1st I am moving and taking the new bike to the mountains in Colorado. I am very excited to have this bike up there. This is a great forum and thank you to everyone for all the great info and cool attitude. Cheers! PS: My wife is from London, she was a bit chaffed that I din't get a Triumph Daytona!! -
Ve Day
As you all know, tomorrow is VE Day. A time to Remember and thank the great wartime generation.
My dear old mum just sent me this photo of her mother, family and friends sharing the celebration on the actual day in the street in London where they lived. Several of the houses there were flattened by bombs.
Long live the Great British spirit. -

The Non - Ducatis You Have Owned
After posting about the Ducati's that have been part of our lives (Ducatis You Have Owned), I was wondering what non Ducati bikes we've had.
I'll leave the Scooters out of it.
Shut up @Exige
I'll kick it off.
1st - GSXR1100M - H reg. Mint with about 900 miles on it when I bought it. Owned by the lead singer of the Toy Dolls originally. "Ooooooooooooooooo...Nellie the Elephant!" I had this before I passed my test.
2nd - RD350LC - Stan Stephens tuned. Bought from my Brother-in-law to pay towards his wedding. I owned this for a couple of years, which was slightly longer than his marriage to my sister.
3rd - Fireblade RRW - Bought a Fireblade because of the legend. Didn't like it, seemed bland. Quality wasn't brilliant either which surprised me for a Honda.
4th - MV Agusta F4 750 - Loved this bike and owned it for about 8 years. Sold when I just found it too uncomfortable to ride for a day out. It used to wreck my knees. ... -

Changes
Hi,
A couple of things.
Hope everyone is well in this crazy time.
Firstly, I'm removing the current forum advert hosting company. The site was starting to look a bit crap with too many popups and adverts. Quantcast (the ad network) are now gone. I didn't really like how they were slowing the site down. There will still be adverts (not for site subscribers), but will be Google Ads, which in my experience, are not quite as invasive.
Second, Speakers Corner changes. It will be hidden to any unregistered / not logged in users and only members who've been registered for at least 1 month and 100 posts will have access to it. New content will also not show up in 'New Posts'.
This is predominantly a bike forum and I'd like to keep it that way. But I appreciate it can also be a place that folks would like to discuss newsworthy topics including political content. So, Speakers Corner is still here, but with some small changes.
As a reminder, it's possible to Ignore forums completely. If... -
Lockdown Bike Clean . . .
Thought I'd get this guy ready to roll when permitted to partake of the roads again . . . -
The Ducatis You Have Owned.
In this time of lockdown, picture and video threads seem to be on the up and enjoyed by all.
I thought about a thread for all the Ducatis that have been and gone in your life. Now this isn't a c**k waving thread, but many of us had bikes theat preceed this Forum by quite some time.
So I'll start. Ducati's you have owned till present day.
1st - 1998 916 BP. Minter that I bought from a mate who had hardly ridden it from new. My 1st Ducati after a Fireblade & GSXR.
2nd - 2000 996 BP. A little ropey around the edges, but that I was going to restore. I never got round to it. Sold it after riding it once and I should have just kept it. It showed up on here a while back.
A bit of a gap here where I had an MV Agusta and Aprilia Tuono Factory.
3rd - 2007 1098S. Bought from Lowestoft. Another minter and I was convinced the guy had won the Lottery. A garage full of nice bikes and a power boat on his private mooring at the end of the garden.
4th - 2010 Desmosedici RR. Pushed... -
916 Pictures Of All 748/9**
Hi I’ve seen one on the panigale section but not one here (I apologise if there is one and I’ve missed it) but how about a thread of our favourite pictures etc of our 748’s/9**’s. -
My Mate Is Retiring...
After several years at the top of his game, my mate Tom Swales is retiring from competition.
Competing in the sport of 1km long speed wheelie competitions with little funds and achieving what he has is quite a feat. Quite likely the best in the world, even though his results have left him behind the top 2 or 3 competitors with huge budgets, Tom has always scrimped and done magnificently well - with exceptional skill and sublime throttle control.
He has been known to wheelie past mates while touring Europe with full soft luggage flapping in the wind at well over 130mph with one hand off the bars steading the load.
Here are his milestones, finally cracking +200mph on a bike Jarrod Frost lent him -
How To Turn A 1299 Panigale Into A Sport Classic
It's time..
I feel I haven't p*ssed off enough people yet with my 999 project , So its time for another crack!
Unfortunately this one isn't already built, and won't be for many years, So you fellas will be able to warn me before I do something extra stupid!
But so far, heres the idea... I plan to use this as the dissertation project for my degree in motorsports engineering, to design and hopefully build a chassis for a 1299s engine I have.
Why a pani?
A few reasons;
1) They're mental
2) 116mm bore!
3) The university has one. A really really fancy one
4) it has a very simple chassis
Above ridden by Micheal Neeves for a MCN article, This particular bike is the brainchild of a friend of mine for his dissertation project based around measuring steering (torque) input for a bike.
So I have quite alot of data on the bike and what a Panigale does around a racetrack, not just dynamically but also electronically. Which leads me onto the next part of the project, I'd really like to have... -
996 Bling Me Up
Thought that the old rat bike needed a bit of TLC after its hard life, so scored a very cheap DP racing swing arm cover from eBay which, after a bit of work, has come up very nicely indeed (I think it might actually be a cover for the mag arm as it has previously been cut to fit the chainguard?). Will look nice and spangly once I get the back end all reassembled again with the CF hugger.
Also, and much more importantly, fitted a new shock in anticipation of getting the bike on the track sometime this year (hopefully).
Its a Nitron R3 which I ordered direct from Nitorn just over three weeks ago. Good to know that British industry is still functioning in these surreal times.
Be very interested to hear from anyone who has fitted one of these before as I am considering mounting the remote reservoir under the seat? It is currently mounted where Nitron recommend. -

Not An Owner But I Just Restored A 1977 900 Super Sport
Hay everyone. I am new to Ducati and don't currently own one but am just finishing restoring a 1977 900SS for a customer. I have a question for the group. The bike has about 7,000 miles from new, one owner. Last started about 25 years ago. I have gone through and done a cosmetic restoration -- new frame and body paint, new plating, chrome and zinc, wheels rebuils and polished, ss spokes, gauges rebuilt everything tidied up. I used as much of the original chrome as possible. Only the motor side covers were removed to polish. Carbs and breaks completely rebuilt. Ran when last parked. Now the problem: I won't start. I have spark, fuel looks good at carbs. Electronic ignition. Do the spark plug wired have to from a dedicated coil or could the wires go to either plug?
Help, Thank you.
